Overview
More
The Swiss Garden is a late Regency, nine acre garden, which is adjacent to the Shuttleworth Collection. The garden was created by the third Lord Ongley between 1820 and 1835, and is laid out in the romantic and Swiss picturesque style. It is the only complete example of this period and is open to the public all year round. The Swiss Garden has 13 listed structures including a Swiss Cottage, Indian Kiosk, and Grotto & Fernery and Victorian embellishments such as Pulhamite rockwork. It is licenced as a civil wedding venue, and outdoor events run throughout the year including the annua Mad Hatters tea party and open air theatre.

We arrived soon after opening time and the reception area, shared with the Shuttleworth Collection, was buzzing and busy. But as soon as we walked through the gates of the garden we entered a haven of peace. This was a return visit after many years...More

We had tickets for here as a gift, knowing nothing about the place. It was a rewardingly beautiful place to visit, so many attractions from the many water features to the assortment of buildings set in their landscapes. Truly inspiring and worthy of a visit,...More

Went for the Mad Hatters Tea party. Atmosphere was amazing, weather ruined it a little but that's out of their control. Gardens are beautiful, will be returning for a visit when the sun is out.

This is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life (except for the occasionally noisy peacocks). The gardens are beautifully kept and there is plenty of seating for taking a break to enjoy the surroundings.

A lovely garden and so peaceful. It is a restoration of a Regency garden, designed with lots of winding paths to take you through the garden, so you don't see it all at once but get glimpses and unfolding views. Lots of seats everywhere, inviting...More

Swiss garden is next door to the Shuttleworth aerodrome and collection. The gardens are lush and green with various flora, fauna and other points of interest. There are plenty of places to sit and picnic and you may even get to spot the roaming peacock....More

The gardens do not have a tea room - but the Shuttleworth collection (where the garden is located) do.
