It was one of the most important sanctuaries of Poseidon in the ancient times (4th century BC). Amphitrite was also being worshiped here. It is located near the beach of Kionia. Apart from the main temple, the archaeological site includes the main Temple, the baths,...More

The Sanctuary of Poseidon is not worth heading off the beaten track to visit as really only basic remains left. I would only go if at Kionia Beach

Unfortunately, one more archaeological site that is abandoned to its fate from the government. The place is very beautiful but not a lot of things to see.

What could be better than a Sanctuary to Poseidon with the beach just across the road? Not much to see . . . the usual foundations, a few walls, scattered stones, etc. Still for those interested in archeology it's worth the trip. Just a short...More

The site is quite big however much is to be uncovered and what is there is not really in a state that is really displayable. It's only 2 euros so if you're on the beach anyway it's worth doing

a very basic kind of ancient ruin which has not attracted much attention by the authorities. Still, for the interested person a stimulation. (Don´t get it wrong, the fee of 2 euro does not go to the voluntary warden!)

Basically a pile of ruins. Could be made much better. There is a good beach opposite and food and drink nearby
