Although we were there in July, late in the afternoon, there still seemed to be plenty to see. It is certainly worth visiting.

Took a short detour while drive through the area. Drove along the short, saw the lighthouse, geese, seagulls and ducks. Kids enjoyed the view too. Saw the bird viewing deck off to the distance.

Excellent bird watching and beautiful sandbar with trees, native plants, small ponds and inlets leading in and around a lagoon with a raised sandbar lookout; many species observed. The sandbar flooded in 2019 and did not dry out this season so some areas are inaccessible by car or on foot now. Perhaps next season it will change. Kayaking in and around the lagoon and harbor is fun. Kayak, canoe and ski-do rental has been available seasonally. Windy days bring kite boarders out surfing the waves.

The platform area is a great place to observe a variety of birds. Most of the birds that we viewed were ducks and Canadian geese, but it was still enjoyable. This is a good stop when in the area.

This is a great area to watch wildlife. Lots of birds, ducks and geese. This is the finest spot to see a real nature preserve on the banks of Lake Erie. You can drive right
up to the observation deck and its free. One of the finest places on all of Lake Erie...great spot to take pictures or just relax.

This used to be a nice place to walk, but for some reason they've cut down most of the shade trees along the shore. Otherwise, some birds can be observed from the platform

I went to this area looking for birds. I started out at the marina (as suggested in the Ohio Lake Erie Birding Trail Guidebook) and saw a number of ducks and geese swimming in the water off of a beach. I discovered that one can drive back onto the beach where there were many sandpipers and herons (great blue herons and green herons). Birds allowed me to drive right up to them and was able to get some great photos from the car. The observation platform, itself, offers great views of the marsh. There was a heron sitting right off the shore just a few feet from me. I went in the early morning, which seems to be the best time.

I lived here from 2000 to 2008. It is calm and relaxing with beautiful scenery. I will be back to visit this summer.

Bald Eagles, Herrons, Igrets, Sand Pipers, and a dozen other birds visit this area and the sand bar, next to it.
