About
Mission Arts is a vibrant community arts centre located in Mission Beach, QLD bringing a variety of creative opportunities and experiences to the residents and visitors of the Cassowary Coast. The centre was opened in August 2010 and consists of a gallery, gallery shop, open air workshop space, dedicated pottery shed, and a combined administrative/catering/storage area. We are the largest completely self-sustaining community arts organisation in the Far North and operate as a completely volunteer led and volunteer run organisation. We host approximately 12 exhibition openings a year, which are free and open to the public and facilitate more than 100 workshops a year, covering a range of areas such as basketry, mosaic and glass work, pottery, creative writing, drawing and painting. Our facility is available for hire and we welcome conversations with interested artists, individuals and groups wishing to further explore their connection to the arts.

Some really impressive pieces of art on display when we visited. Has a good selection of handcrafts and paintings, etc. Very nice work by local artists. Also has a display of children's books. Really good place to pop into. Good local souvenirs, also.

This small but friendly arts centre is well worth dropping into if you're in the area. Interesting collection of mainly local artist's work, some of it highly professional. Various mediums.

Mission Arts offers a very versatile display of many forms of art. Regular exhibitions ensure that all artists benefit from the opportunity to show their talents, whilst also allowing visitors to see a variety of works. Workshops are also available to allow budding artists to begin as well as talented artists to extend their knowledge. Mission Arts is for everyone!

We passed the signs for the gallery and decided to pop in and are so glad we did. Full of local art, pottery, jewellery, knit wear and other interesting crafts. All of an excellent quality it was a real treat. Every member of our group found something they loved and we made several purchases. If you like to support local arts and crafts then this is a really good place to go. Only open 10-2pm

Local artists show their works but also sell them via the gallery shop. Many practical items as well as object d'art for decoration. Often beach orientated designs. Great place to get gifts for the hard to buy for. Highly recommended

I recently visited the gallery to see the Jack Chalker/ Weary Dunlop exhibition. Brilliant, and the result of months of work by the volunteers. The shop had wonderful paintings and works of handcraft of top quality. Friendly staff too. Congratulations to the folk who run the gallery.

Mission Arts is tucked away at MARCS Park near the corner of Tully Mission Beach Road and Seaview St. Mission Beach. It offers much more than visual arts. It's unique wet tropics sustainable design resulted from the community inputting their needs. The busy facility is not funded by government, however, the volunteers have a great knack for applying for grants and sponsorships to run a wide variety of special programs. There are two galleries, one houses an interesting collection of local art from glassware and ceramics to paintings and gorgeous jewellery. The second gallery features special individual artist or group exhibitions. I saw an amazing photographic exhibition by members of the community. For those who might like to try their hand at creative pursuits, there is a pottery studio where classes for clay and glasswork take place and a large, shady caged area where lessons from how to use your smart phone and creative writing to mosaics are held. The entire facility is run by a dedicated and professional group of volunteers. It is a great place to pick up hand made items to take back home. It is open every day 10am - 4pm from March to end of October and 10am - 2pm November to end of February. This is a must see in Mission Beach.
