About
Bekonscot Model Village and Railway is the world’s oldest original model village. Set in Beaconsfield, just outside of London we are a popular day attraction for people of all ages.It was opened in 1929 and it’s a great place to bring the family and stomp around like giants! There are six model towns, a huge Gauge 1 model garden railway, ride-on railway, remote-controlled boats, castles, lakes and industries in 1.5 acres of award-winning gardens. It's a great family day out, and it's your chance to be a giant in a miniature land of adventure, hidden away in a 1930s timewarp. It’s a big day out full of really nice small things and we'd love to see you soon!

Marvellous for young children
Oct 2021
Maybe the best point for young children is that almost everything is at the perfect height for them to enjoy.

Plus the staff are super-helpful

I’m rating my visit here 10/10
I didn’t know about this until I saw a video on tiktok. We visited just today and it was amazing from start to finish.

Car park for paying customers just round the corner so that’s very useful.

The model village is lovely with lots to see and read about.

It’s very accommodating for children with a play area and railway for all ages.

A lovely time out and could almost spend a good few hours of you take your time.

Would recommend to all.

A big thumbs up. 👍

What a wonderful day spent here. We took our (nearly) 3 year old grandson, and he loved it.
Particularly the narrow gauge railway, and all the model trains constantly running around the village. The landscaping was amazing, especially the miniature trees. And so well kept.
Everywhere was kept clean & tidy. The toilets & baby changing were spotless.
We bought hot drinks from the tea room, but no food, as we took a picnic. The food choice looked a bit limited, but it didn't bother us.
We also took a guest in a wheelchair, and managed to get around easily.
A big thumbs up for all the staff involved.
Added bonus of free parking at the church nearby. Thank you Bekonscot. 😊

Tearoom manageress is a poor advert for this Model Village.

The village is kept nice and deserves 5 stars. However our visit was spoilt by the tea room which as others have pointed out the lady in charge is rude and refused to let us sit inside whilst pouring with rain and the place was completely empty. We will not return.

This was the highlight of our trip. A must to visit if you are in the area

Absolutely stunning, the village has so much detail and with a sense of humour with shop names. Church bells ringing, train circuit, harbour, airstrip, sports, football, la crosse, netball, cricket and racetrack. Village greens with maypole dancers and another with children playing on the swings, seesaws etc. A colliery, a fairground and so much more. The icing on the cake was the White Horse, I live in Westbury Wiltshire and we have a much larger one set into the surrounding hills. This is a must for any child or adult, the craftsmanship and detail is second to none, truly a labour of love. Loved every second I was there.

Just as good as 5 years ago!

Last visited here in 2016 and it's still just as good! Run by volunteers who are clearly passionate about the village and the extensive maintenance of the models.
The trains weaving in and out of the models was a favourite of our Niece along with the play area with slides beside the cafe.
Currently during Covid times you are not allowed to take your own food in, the cafe had a selection of food and drinks to take away and seating is available in the picnic area. The toilets were immaculate
Car parking was in the church car park opposite the model village, just a short walk to the model village and adjacent to Waitrose. Parking is free

What an amazing place to visit. It is very interesting for adults too, not just for children. So much to see and all in working order. There were a lot of model trains running around various parts of the model village. Fair ground attractions working and even a steam roller.
The only negative is the cost of a cup of tea in the cafe, the same price as a portion of chips!

Lovely place to visit
My grandkids loved it
Although the cafe was very expensive and food very poor
Staff in cafe were rude!
Although you can take picnic and there are benches to sit and eat

Good family day out
Jul 2021
We went by train to Bekonscot model village with our toddler. Easy to get to on foot. Shame the children's playground was not open. Our son enjoyed going around the model village and the trains going round it - very cute and dinky. He enjoyed the train ride (you pay extra for) and the ice cream from the shop. There is a seating area for eating and it wasn't raining when we went. We took a packed lunch so not sure what the food is like. A pleasant family day out.
