This is the second time I have gone to visit the whales and their babies with Malarrimo. I don't know what the other tours are like, be I have loved our guides and captain, and always gotten up close, and VERY personal with the whales....More
I was on a whale tour with another company. I have been to Baja 15 times to interact with the whales. I always go to GN because the Pangeros were so respectful of the whales. In Feb 2017 I was out on the lagoon in...More
The hotel reservation was a bit complicated, back and forth, but we eventually got it straightened out. And most importantly, upon arrival we had a room. The restaurant is good but the tour the following morning was just extraordinary - well organized, efficient, good boat...More
This is the place to be in March where you can pet a Grey Whale. Yes it is true. Grey Whales are the longest migrating Mammals which travels about 6000 miles each way in the winter from their feeding grounds of the Arctic to the...More
Took care of all of our needs: a space for our VW camper, our meals, drinks, whale watching tour (and they have a mini-market for ice, etc.).
The RV spaces are not much; just a place to park on the gravel, but it is quite...More
Guys the food here at this restaurant is absolutely amazing. I cannot express enough on how great the food was at this place. Unfortunately when I went it wasn't whale watching season but I was able to eat at the restaurant and it was perfect.
I was part of a Road Scholar tour group who did a whale watching trip with this company at the end of March. It was a memorable and unique experience! I have been on whale watching trips in Monterey Bay, California a few times, but...More
SO perfect!...from start to finish..our guide on the bus was funny, knowledgable and friendly. Our Panga captain was attentive and knowledgable of the whales, breeding etc.
Our days was a bit cloudy and overcast and once we hit the lagoon area the sun came out....More
We recently had the extraordinary experience of whale watching with my 86 year-old Mom with Malarrimo Eco-Tours. The weather was warm and sunny and the water in Laguna Ojo de Liebre was calm - perfect for our excursion! We saw at least one hundred gray...More

The optimal time to see the adults and babies in Scammons Lagoon in Guerrero Negro is the last week in March and the first two weeks in April. They start to arrive in the area in December and leave in April. So, July is not a good time if what you want to do is to get up close to them, touch them, and see the babies.
Just a reminder for everyone Highway 1 from San Quintin to Guererro Negro is HORRIBLE. It is full of pot holes. (Renamed it the Ruta de Baches.) Don't drive a regular car on that road. It needs to be something with a lot of clearance. We foolishly drove our Mini Cooper there this year and busted one tire and broke the wheel on another in the potholes - making the trip expensive. Good idea to get vehicle insurance, or go with a tour. You won't notice the pot holes in a bus.

Malarrimo’s have Whale Watching tours daily 8:00 and 11:00 am daily. As per my knowledge about Whales, they are on the move constantly and Little new born ones are the curious ones and if you are lucky they will come to your boat. It is not guaranteed but it is likely to happen mostly in the high season. We spent nearly 2:30 hours in the boat chasing the Whales in late January this year only one baby Whale came near our boat where people could touch . You can book either Tour but check the weather as we have to cancel our 8:00 AM Tour as it was 43 F that morning and the boat will speed up to go to the middle of the bay, also think about the windchill factor. Pls wear appropriately.
