A wonderful hike in the rainforest. Beautiful, gigantic trees along nice boardwalks and trails. Rough road out there but well worth it.

This was recommended to us by a local we met in Port Renfrew. It is a beautiful forest with a wonderful walk through to the Gnarliest Tree in Canada!! (that's actually the sign next to the tree!!!)

Go see Canada's gnarliest tree they said. Only 12 kms outside of Port Renfrew the literature stated. Parking no problemo. Park either side of the "highway". After driving 16kms along bumpy "bush road" and seeing one other vehicle, a logging truck, we came across a...More

This is a gem of an old growth forest. The trees aren't just big; they are huge. The educational experience even includes a bit of culture. The First Nations people used the cedar tree to create many things from clothing, to storage boxes, to houses,...More

We enjoyed a leisurely hike through upper and lower Avatar Grove. Nicely laid out steps and pathways at the steeper areas. Very simple hike for those with mobility issues be mindful there are some steep areas to maneuver. The forest canopy keeps the area cooler...More

What a special place. Thought we would see EWOKS. Great trail, with stairs and awesome trees. Go both sides of road if you have time.

Beautiful short hike about 7-10km down a rough dirt road, easily passable by all cars, just slow. Parking on side of road, lots of signs to location. I only ventured the top half to see the knarly tree at the end of the trail through...More

Nope. :-) It's all gravel, but truly worth the trip ... although wouldn't recommend it in winter!
