Enjoyed this with teenagers on a field trip! Was very beautiful and excellent resource for our state. The beach and marsh, what an educational opportunity for our students! Wish the weather had been better, was rainy, windy and very cold. Really want to come back...More

Wrightsville Beach is an amazing beach but if you want the real beach go across the inlet to Masonboro Island. Better yet beach ir anchor your boat and enjoy just sand ocean and plants. There is nothing here to do but nothing.

The powers that be keep trying to make this wonderful island off limits. The only way to keep it open to the public for FREE is to take care of it! Please, please take everything with you as you leave!

I took a boat over with a friend (only accessible by boat) and was amazed. It was an absolutley beautiful island with very few people on the beach side. Lots of para-sailors. Definitely take a trip out there!

This island is only accessible by boat. It is south of Wrightsville Beach. You can pull a boat up on the west side and walk across to the unspoiled, and unmonitored beach. There are no life guards and no police. It is gorgeous by day...More

We launched our kayaks at Trails End on a beautiful morning and paddled about 25-30 min across the channel and though the marsh. There is a small beach landing where you can pull up and safely leave your boats. A short walk over the dunes,...More

I could hit a tennis ball from my backyard in Willowick and have it land on this island (not really, but I'm pretty darn close). Still, I've lived here for 2 years, and only been once. I just prefer a better place to go to...More

Getting there does not guarantee a way home. My only visit was on a 4th of July as part of an emergency medical crew, attending to the needs of the several hundred visitors we were told would be over there. Never had I seen the...More

Hi Look for kyack rentals on the sound side of Wrightsville Beach. It is pretty easy to Kyack across to Masonboro from the northern end of Wrightsville Beach.

Really depends -- it's between the waterway and the ocean and when I have been there, only during the day, the breeze kept any away.
