Located on the waterfront, this is an excellent museum designed to inform visitors of the local water estuary system complete with interactive displays. While the displays were directed mostly to youngsters, they were still very informative for adults. And it is worth the entrance fee...More

Visited with my then 3 year old daughter, the exhibits were small but educational and the building wasn't overwhelming for her age. Staff were excellent and friendly. We were even notified of an activity by staff moments before it began so that we could participate....More

I never knew there was such a thing as an estuarium. I'm glad we went, and also glad the admission was reasonable ($5 each). It's a small place that won't take up your whole day or even half of it, and worth a visit if...More

Great exhibits highlighting Eastern Carolina's estuaries, including their animal life and artifacts of the people who have lived here. The River Roving boat trips are an excellent introduction to the local Pamlico/Tar River waterways.

Great opportunity to visit an environmental review of the Beaufort County area Waterway system. Well-designed, well-developed and of great interest. If the timing is right you can also take a free pontoon boat ride around the area through the estuarium.

Lots of good information, as you walk through the estuarium and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. However, some of the displays could use some attention and repair and the tanks that were not touch tanks should be covered. Also, the movie at the beginning...More

Wonderful place and wonderful and knowledgeable staff. We did the scavenger hunt which they loved! It was our first visit to the coast and we learned a lot. The exhibits were interactive and kept the kids attention (big kids too lol)

The North Carolina Estuarium offers a donation based River Roving at various times in the year. We went on a Saturday morning for the 10:30 trip. It was both a relaxing and informative trip. The excursion lasted about an hour and you will go on...More
