St Mary's is an Ipswich landmark. In fact it is perhaps THE Ipswich landmark. It is worth a quick look from the outside but sadly has little to offer the sightseer on the inside. the alter and surrounds has the look of an unfinished project.

The church is vast and cool, even when crowded. The sermon caught the congregation's interest. The huge Stations of the Cross were life-like and one could almost live in the moment of each one.

The locals probably take this building for granted. But it's an incredible piece of sandstone architecture. The windows and paintings on the inside tell a fascinating story. This church would have been built when Ipswich was contending for QLD capital.

This church is amazing to see inside and out. It's old and so well maintained. A definite must see if you love churches.
