Being so accessible, the gorge can get a little busy. The walk in from the car park is generally good, but take water with you (that goes for any walk in the Territory).

The dirt road was pretty good with minimal corrugations. Good place to go bird watching. The gorge is lovely. Didn't go swimming but just went there to have a look and take some photos.

Not far from Pine Creek and the road in is suitable for most vehicles during the dry season although a few corrugations, but the gorge itself is a great spot with an easy walking trail to the swimming hole and further on some great views...More

Pleasant trip to the gorge. You can swim in the gorge in designated area. Very pleasant! Dirt road in but suitable for most types of cars. Camping available near gorge suitable for trailers and caravans.

Quieter than the other major gorges and attractions, perhaps due to its size or the fact its only accessible via dirt / 4wd track. Worth a look if you have time. Options for swimming. Campsite has fire pits, tables and a long drop.

Easy walk in to a sandy pool across from a gorge walk. Good for kids and easy access to water. Further down you can follow the gorge along by rock hopping and swimming. Beautiful spot.

This was suggested to us to visit on our way to Katharine. You have to travel about 20 km on a dirt road which you can only travel about 30 km per hour or less. The walk to the water hole is quite rocky but...More

We visited Umbrawarra for the first time with a 1 and 4 year old. We weren't sure whether it would be worth the 20km drive off the main road, but it was pristine! There are two small creek crossings but they were tiny at this...More

We visited Umbrawarra on the May long weekend. The road had been recently graded with only a couple of washouts, the water was flowing nicely and it was open for swimming. The gorge is spectacular and it's an easy walk to the first swimming location....More
