Number 1 in Trapani

If you are planning to visit Trapani, make sure you visit the salines. There are several places where you can see them from the road. There are boat tours, and a Salt Museum, which I totally recommend (great visit, for 3 eur). Plus, you can go very close to the salines, and see the workers working. You need, at least, 1 hour to enjoy the place, but plan more time, if you want to include a boat tour, as well.

Making Salt!
Sep 2020 • Family
Worth a quick stop to see the areas covered in salt water and when it evaporates, leaves the pure white salt. Amazing and timeless. You can see the remains of the old mills to pump the water(?).

This is the beautiful city of Trapani, located in the west side of the Sicily island. The picture was taken from Erice. Enjoy

Lovely at sunset
Dec 2019
This is a beautiful as well as interesting place in Trapani. A definite piece of history that still operates in the ways of the past. Beautiful to see at sunset especially.

This experience was great. We visited the reserve twice while in Trapani and on the way out. Went to the gift shop and saw some beautiful sites.

A long walk but worth it. Note: No amenities nearby.

It was a nice day so we decided to walk out to the historic salt pans and nature preserve.
The quickest route for walking from the historical centre of town is through the industrial port area which is not scenic
and has the disadvantage of having an open sewer at the side of the road.
There are no cafe’s or restaurants along this route but there is a supermarket where you can buy water or drinks.
It took us a hour to make it to the historic salt mill which was closed up, but still interesting to see.
We walked back on a different route which took up past a large Conrad supermarket which did have a cafe with
hot foods drinks and thankfully a bathroom.
Our one hour walk back to our hotel left us tired and with a very good appetite for a late lunch and siesta.

Worth a visit
Oct 2019
This was an interesting little place that has belonged to the same family for generations. Our guide was a beautiful young lady, the only "girl" in the family business and her English was extremely good. You can climb to the roof to see the windmill and If you're lucky you can see flamingos!

Amazing!
Oct 2019
I have been visiting Trapani for a number of years now and I finally got to make this trip. And I was really pleased that I made it.
Saw a small flock of Flamingos on the salt lake. That was worth the trip.
I arrived just as the guide was starting his talk about the history of the salt . He was a great mime artist as he talked us through the history of the salt production and the stages of its production.
Highly recommended.
