What stood out for me here was the heavy presence of smoking police who were in the guises of car drivers, ordinary pedestrians and OAPs using walking sticks etc. They take umbrage should you dare to puff anywhere near the entrance to Mosque property when...More

The tour guides here are excellent and English-speaking - pointed out some fascinating details in the architecture here that I otherwise would have missed entirely. Its worth turning up to watch Friday prayers - the vast congregation spills out onto the streets.

The mosque is worth a visit as it is different from other mosques I have visited in predominately Muslim countries. It is the largest of the 32 mosques in Xining.

It was nice to see so many Muslims gathering for normal prayer and helped us to clear the misconception that muslims in china are suppressed. They all were fully allowed to perform their religious duties.

Very nice mosque. Beautiful colors. Attached is a small building that offers a small but very nice exposition of Mecca, including a scale model, pictures of people visiting and interesting objects. Well worth visiting.
