A moving sand dune! Yes it's never the same. You can visit year after year and be amazed with it's new shape. You will come back year after year only to discover the new shapes this natural beauty takes on.
Our trip to Jockey's Ridge State Park was amazing despite the cool temperatures. We climbed to the top of the dune and it was well-worth the effort. We also found the park staff to be extremely helpful and informative about the park and the area...More

This is a beautiful area. We took hang gliding lessons from Kitty Hawk Adventures. You don't have to worry about not taking off at first as you'll just land in the soft sand. The views are spectacular.

Nice park. Largest sand dune in eastern US. Visitors Center was very helpful and exhibits were good. Yiu can walk the dunes. No charge for this park. There is also a hang gliding school located next to the VC.

I rented a sandboard back in March from Kitty Hawk Kites. $20 for 4 hours. It was a sunny day after snow and rain the day before. You wax the back of the board each time for it to glide down the dunes. It stayed stuck in place when I didn't apply enough wax or when I wasn't on a steep-enough slope. Kitty Hawk provided the wax.
