This listing is for the OLD park outside Wilson; we passed by here and didn't see anything. About 15 whirligigs are now up in a park under construction at 301 Goldsboro St S., Wilson NC. That one's worth a visit.

A trip by the whirligig park is a step back in time. Although a major portion of his displays have been relocated into the town of Wilson, the area is still worth the trip to visit.

A continuing work in progress the "Whirligig Park Project," runs the gambit from simple to complex, some "Machines" are a mere foot across while others are thirty foot! A truly amazing collection of Vollis Simpson's inventions after he retired. Don't miss the warehouse at 301...More

Went here with my husband and our two year old. There are about 6 whirligigs and they're quite cool. This is clearly a park/work in progress. My son got a bigger kick out of the construction equipment than the whirligig. My biggest critique is it...More

I first saw these back in 1987 while attending Atlantic Christian College in Wilson NC. We would drive out to the artists house in the country to see them. We usually went at night because they had so many reflectors on them. It was called...More
