My wife and I were spending a few days in Asheville but wanted to see some trails so we scoped out Lovers Leap. Read some reviews (not on TA) that gave confusing instructions but the parking and hike are pretty simple. Park at the NOC...More

Lovers Leap Loop trail is a fairly easy hike. The trail starts out mostly flat and follows the French Broad River. The trail climbs through a series of switch backs. The ground is a bit rough so proper footwear is a very good idea and...More

We started the trail on the river side and came back down via the Silvermine trail. We didn't know it in advance, but we completed the steepest portion on the way up. And we were glad that we did it in that direction. The trail...More

Perfect length for younger kids, though I was a little nervous with the drop offs. They should put some rails up along some of the trail.

This is a tremendous hike. You follow the French Broad River for a ways (beautiful!) and then start up the mountain via several switchbacks. It's steep but with hiking shoes and trekking poles, we never have a problem at all. The view of Hot Springs...More

Not sure which part was the actual "LOVERS LEAP" since it was not marked with a sign. I would do this hike again, though. It was very close to the town of Hot Springs and you could see the campsites across the river.

Had a great time hiking the Lovers Leap Loop. I used the book Hiking North Carolina's National Forests by Johnny Molloy for trail description and directions. The loop we did was 4 miles, but you could extend it to more. I would call it moderately...More

We hiked on this trail with our adult children, their friends and their dogs. It was quite beautiful and you can do it as quickly or as leisurely as you like. Much of the trail is shaded. You have to be in decent walking shape,...More

My wife and I loved this little hike. It was a bit steeper than anticipated, but by no means too hard. We assumed we would get up there and turn around, but the view was amazing. So, we sit up there for about an hour.

My husband and I hiked this trail - about 2 miles. We definitely had to do some research prior to going, otherwise we wouldn't have known where it was (or where to turn to loop back to Hot Springs)! Follow the white stripes on the...More
