Breathtaking views, chilled out vibe and generally a great place to stop and picnic while you’re cycling around Rottness

A nice beach but unfortunately, no cover from the hot sun. It wasn't so busy went visited. Great beach to swim.

We visited several beaches on our recent trip to Rottnest Island. They were all beautiful, but my husband and I agree that Salmon Bay was not only our favorite beach on the Island, but in the world! We arrived at 9am and the only footprints in the sand were made by birds - the sand was fine and white, the turquoise water crystal clear and the rock formations made the beach interesting. We couldn’t ask for more!

Rottnest island is beautiful and has a lovely vibe. I was looking forward to riding around on a bike being a beginner cyclist. However there were so many flies on the island that it was impossible to enjoy anything. At any given time you have about ten flies on your face, crawling in your ears and mouth, even despite cycling. It made the experience a miserable fly swatting exercise the whole way through. I gave up and cycled back early to leave. Would recommend checking the fly season before visiting.

All the bays on Rottnest are beautiful. I would love to visit here again. The water looks amazing, wasn't hot enough for us to swim.

Salmon Bay is short bicycle trip from the settlement. The water is calm and the sand is white. It's a good place for snorkelling, or just lazing in the shallows. It's one of the island's most popular beaches for sunbathing.

If you ever get a moment to go here by water or land, do it. This is a true gem. I'm the number one charter boat agency and we go here very rarely because of weather and wind. But once you are in this bay, you have safety and amazing wildlife. Big rays, turquoise water and the best of Rottnest

Not sure why but it is blocked at the top and bottom of the stairs down to the beach, You are still able to see the view you just can't swim

Stunning white sand beach with great snorkelling! Easily accessible via the Hop On and Hop Off bus or a short 20mins bike ride from town centre, which is part of the fun getting there!
