Alan's engaging (and free) Meet the Quokkas walking tour
Mar 2021
Rottnest Island's Free Tours led by voluntary guides can be a hit a miss. I was looking forward to the Whitecaps & Wilderness free tour but the guide was not engaging or very knowledgeable. But Alan did a fantastic job leading the Meet the Quokkas free tour (22 March 2021). Alan was very knowledgeable, professional and engaging. Thank you Alan for such an enriching tour. We wished it went for longer!

Have you heard of antiseptic
Mar 2021 • Friends
Booked and paid in full 18 months ago. Power had gone out on the island the night before, and tv had lost channels. Remote didn’t appear to have been sanitised. The self contained unit had mould in the kitchen and bathroom. The dish drainer and bathroom drain had not be cleaned, for goodness knows how long. The floors were still dirty and cob webs in toilet. Lounges in sitting room were also dirty. Even in non pandemic times this isn’t good enough. Have you heard of antiseptic?

Thank you for your feedback and I am so sorry to hear of the concerns around the cleaning of your unit. These have been noted and reviewed with the Housekeeping team for special attention. As you are a regular visitor to the Island I would very much encourage you to contact the Visitor Centre as soon as you arrive if you do have any concerns as we will always do our best to rectify the situation as soon as possible. As an aside, you may be aware that the RIA has now changed its booking terms so that reservations an be made a maximum of 9 months in advance and a deposit of only 25% is required.

The Rottnest Island Volunteer Guides deserve recognition for their friendliness, knowledge and attention to customer service. I found them to be very helpful, particularly with tips on getting around, during my recent visit.

Rottnest visitors

I found the staff very knowledgeable and friendly with questions we asked about what to do n places to go around the island. The Island has everything for a great day out. Lots of meal areas n plenty of shade to sit down n enjoy the views. I had my Husband in a wheel chair so limited to go on bus tour, that would have been good if it was available to him. So we missed out of that tour.

Thanks for your review and I am providing an updated response regarding wheelchair access. The accommodation shuttle bus and the Island Explorer hop on hop off bus do allow for wheelchair access. I am not sure if you were seeking to do a different tour but am sorry of your were not provided with the correct information. I am glad that you enjoyed your trip to Rottnest Island otherwise and hope that you will be able to visit again before too long.

Beautiful island, but not great
Dec 2020 • Family
First visit to the island as was that not impressed. The island itself is beautiful, but when we arrived by 9am there was literally no toiletpaper in the toilets and it remained the same for the remainder of the day-we left at 5:30pm. The bins across the island was full and the service at the restaurant was not great at all.
Very beautiful island, but expected better amenities with the amount you pay to get there.

Thank you for your feedback following your visit to Rottnest Island. While staff are seeking to deliver the best possible service for all visitors, the very short period between Christmas and New Year's sees a significant spike in those coming to the Island which far exceeds the usual number of daily visitors. We do have several projects lined up for 2021 including a revamp of the arrival area with additional toilets behind the Visitor Centre which we are confident will ease the pressure during the busiest times. I do hope that you might be able to visit the Island again at a slightly quieter time of the year.

Dec 2020 • Friends
Island is short for Rotten Nest island!!! Do not waste your money, where are the flies on the ads? Flies everywhere! And its like 30 flies on your face all the time!!! My 2 friends both ate flies😂😂, the other one, the fly go in her nose to her throat🥵🥵 view is nice, not so amazing its just like cottesloe, nothing really nice. Restaurants so hot and flies everywhere. Don't waste your time going here.

I am sorry to hear that your trip to Rottnest was impacted by the flies on the day of your visit. Fortunately this is only a problem on a very small number of days per year when weather conditions align to send them our way. On those rare occasions the General Store does a roaring trade in fly nets! I hope that you will be able to experience Rottnest another time on fly-free day.

Beautiful Island and amazing quokkas
Dec 2019
It a fantastic little island which you can easily explore in a day trip. Already the Rottnest Island by Rottnest Express from Perth was fantastic. At the visitor center you get a map and further information. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The island with the amazing coastline, the rough waves and stunning beaches was breathtaking. And last but not least the lovely quokkas which were to see at many places of the island but especially around the jetty area. It was awesome. It is the perfect place for all who love the nature and wildlife.

Thank you for your feedback Jeanette and I am sorry that the staff at the Visitor Centre were not more helpful with information. We have a number of focus areas but activities for 3 yr olds has not previously been one of them. We will definitely brainstorm to be able to provide better advice to such a query in the future. I am sorry to hear also that there were issues with your cabin and If you would like to speak to me direct to discuss these, you are welcome to contact me on 9432 9124.

For Information and Bookings
Mar 2020
Rottnest Island is my favourite place on earth. Much visited and enjoyed greatly. The Rottnest Island Visitor Centre provides excellent advice, information and tickets to various activities on the island. One thing though, the Visitor Centre building has too few toilets for visitors, so be prepared to queue.

Thank you very much for your feedback and I am glad that you enjoyed your visit to Rottnest. You are right about the pressure on the toilets at the Visitor Centre and I am glad to say that we will be increasing the number as part of developments planned during 2021. I am confident that this will help considerably,
