A hidden gem - stunning beach an easy drive south of Geraldton
Jul 2019 • Family
We spent a day driving south of Geraldton, and after visiting the Greenough River Trail and Greenough itself, drove a little south to this beach. It's only 2km off the main highway, and the road is sealed all the way, with a gravel parking area. There's ample parking, a lookout, and toilet facilities.

The beach itself isn't recommended for swimming, with a large reef area, and big waves behind that. But the waves were spectacular to watch. It is a well known surfing beach, and the lone surfer out there was catching a lot of good waves.

When we visited, the water was quite low, so we could walk on the exposed reef with sandals, with water going to our ankles. The dry area on the edge of the reef and the beach area was fun to explore, with all kinds of shells and other remnants of marine life.

For people like us, who enjoy beach combing, and love watching the ocean, it was a fantastic place to spend an hour exploring. It is a hidden gem, and only one or two other vehicles were there the entire time we were there.
