We did an amazing full day 4WD tour with Shark Bay tours to Francois Peron National Park. Luke the tour guide was excellent and did a great job looking after everyone on the tour, including our family of five. First stop was an extremely picturesque turquoise bay where, after a quick morning tea that Luke set up, we could paddle in warm water while sea turtles, sting rays and small reef sharks swam all around us. Luke provided a lot of information about the marine life and the surrounding area. Then onto Bottle Bay where there was more stunning scenery and a chance to swim/snorkel. We then proceeded to a lookout point for more amazing photography opportunities/wildlife spotting and a great lunch of wraps (select your own fillings so everyone could have what they wanted). The onto Skipjack Point which was another brilliant experience - the water was so pristine that you could clearly see all the marine life in the water - turtles, sting rays, sharks - we even saw a three metre long tiger shark! Final stop was at the homestead for a soak in the artesian tub. Would thoroughly recommend this tour and the Francois Peron National Park. It was an unbelievable experience, the scenery is breathtaking, and our whole family thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had an amazing day at the incredible Francois Peron Natinoal Park. You cannot go without a four wheel drive so book a tour as we did.
The mangroves were beautiful, as were the beaches and the snorkelling opportunities, especially at Bottle Bay. it was the rugged beauty of the red dunes and the azure seas that did it for me, that and the sheer remoteness of the place.

The Cape is well worth a visit. The 4WD track is soft in parts, but a relatively easy drive for even a novice off-roader. Be prepared for emergencies though as it gets hot and dry. The views all along the various spots are great, the Cape itself, Skip Jack Point - mesmerising and we spent hours observing the various types of marine life swimming past. The kids really enjoyed the many bbq facilities along the camping spots. Big Lagoon is a short drive, about 30 mins on from the Homestead and definitely on the list of places to visit. We always enjoy our time here.

Today we took the long 4WD trip to Cape Peron and Skipjack Point. The road is very sandy in several places and is really suited to the more experienced driver with a good 4WD. There is so much to see, Dugongs, sharks, Manta Rays, and many birds as well lizard's crossing the road.

Fabulous day exploring - need a good four wheel drive and experience but the trip is worth it. Great fishing enjoyed by the three generations we travelled with - the littlies also enjoyed the beach. Take everything in with you and all your rubbish back out. Don't forget plenty of water and recovery gear

We spent the day in the park. It’s a national park that’s not about animals, we saw one lizard and some birds… the thing here is the dune landscape and the flora, the latter being hugely varied and various with lots of flowers.
The cliffs at Point Peron are very striking and given a sense of size by the roosting cormorants. Watch out for the brisk wind and travel with someone who can handle the 4WD necessity.

Such an amazing landscape, with beautiful beaches. We were the only ones on the beach for kms. The road was a bit soft & rutted, but fine with tires down in the Prado.

I did the Cape Peron tour with Shark Bay 4WD Tours. There were 8 of us plus the driver/guide in the large 4WD van. The tour was laid back and thoroughly enjoyable, with a roller-coaster drive along the red road, beautiful beaches, one of which we swam (and some snorkelled) at and views of the stark coastal shrubbery and along the coastline. We were lucky enough to see two Thorny Devils close up on the tour. Lunch was make-your-own wraps with a very good range of fillings. We had it in a picnic shelter near one of the cliffs. I just wore swimmers and a t-shirt and thongs and a hat all day and didn't change into anything else. My swimmers dried quite quickly after the swim. Remember to take a camera, a towel and 50-plus and not much more. The driver/guide was friendly, funny, helpful and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend the tour.

Beautiful place for a day trip! I'm leaving a review to encourage novice 4x4 drivers to give it a go! We are beginner off roaders, borrowed an Isuzu dmax, lowered the tyres to 20psi and put it in H4. Had no troubles at all! Around 80% of the track is super easy, almost hard sand, then yes 20% is soft slippery sand but keep some momentum and you'll be okay! Only used L4 for about 50 meters, never got bogged. Go to skipjack point for the most amazing view. Watch out for thorny devils on the track, we saw one at the very beginning and then no more all day.

We are hiring a Landcruiser Prado for our WA trip including Denham and Shark Bay. But it won’t have any extra off road set up other than being a Landcruiser. Do you see any issues with driving ourselves around Francois Peron National Park? We would stick to the tracks.

70% if the track is easy and the hard bits are just soft sand. Let your tyres down to around 15 and you will have no problems getting anywhere in Peron in the Prado. If you have got access to a set of maxx Trax, be worth putting them in. Let the ranger know you are going and when due back if you want to be on the safe side he is a Friend of mine - Matt James. There are quite a few people who use it, so always someone to drag you out if you get stuck.

Hi Michael , thanks for review. where would you recommend camping in the Fransois Peron park. We are after a nice, white sandy beach that is relatively protected. thanks in advance

Best camping areas are at Big Lagoon. Access only with high clearance four-wheel drive.

I booked a 4WD tour through the Ocean Park. Guide was incredibly knowledgeable and a delicious fresh lunch was provided. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Hi, We are looking at staying in Point Peron Nat Park for 2 nights in Sept school hols. Do you think we would get a camping spot easily in the holidays at Gregories?
If not, what are other nice camp spots near the beach. We have an off road camper

What is the speed that we have to travel within the National Park? Roughly how long will it take for us to drive from Peron Homestead to Cape Peron? Thanks.
Written April 18, 2017
We also let our tyres down. We were able to travel at about 25km hour when we went as the roads were in pretty good condition. Took us about an hour to reach the point, but Allie plenty of time at the end to enjoy the view. We stayed at the point longer than the travel time, it was just so beautiful!

Bonjour,
Je voudrais savoir si on peut évoluer dans le François Peron National Park avec un Toyota Kluger : c'est haut sur pattes, mais ce n'est pas un 4 WD. Qu'en pensez-vous ?
Merci.

I am sorry I am not sure, we went with Monkey Miah Wildsights, tour ,the guide was really good.
we were in a 4x4 just my family and one other man, well worth it.
One word of warning though we came across a couple who had tried to drive on the beach and we all had to dig them out as they were truly stuck!
