Like many of the surrounding goldfields towns Castlemaine is lucky to have its own Botanical Gardens. Wonderful to wander in all seasons and a wonderful playground and good BBQ facilities.

Local Council keeps thess gardens looking fab. I walk there EVERY day and love the change of seasons it exhibits.

This is such a great place to sit and relax, walk the dog, have a picnic, just admire the changing seasons. there are so many really old trees, many dating back to the beginnings of the gardens in the 1800's. Then there are the roses...More

Grab something to eat and just chill in the Garden. They have markets on a monthly basis which stock home cooked delights, fresh veggies, Coffee and cakes and plants along with some chickens/ Birds/ Quail. Got to love the county folk ! Fun for all...More

These were great gardens and well treed, good paths, green grass (especially when the rest of the town looked like a desert). At night the main path was well lit which was very good as we navigated back from dinner
