This church is not to be missed. Yes, lots of the comments say it is not worth seeing but we’d disagree. We were lucky enough to be in the church when Mass was being said and this really added to the atmosphere. It’s very pared...More

The building of the church is a combination of faith and economics, as the rock was quarried out of a cliff-face to ship to Bordeaux for its construction but yielding a huge church, inspiring to see. The tour is a combination of stories of the...More

Church in a rock. And it is huge. Amazing to see a church built by removing the stone rather than building from stones. It’s a pity you can’t take photos inside.

The church has the highest tower in St. Emilion. But it also has a very interesting underground church. It is an amazing engineering feat to construct and maintain. Be sure to hike to the top of the tower for the best view of St. Emilion...More

This is amazing. A whole church built out of the rock face. We went on an English speaking tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and we learned about the history, how it survived the revolution, how it manages to stay standing now (huge metal apparatus...More

We were advised to visit this and we weren’t disappointed in the church. It’s one amazing piece of architecture and not be to missed. Just a shame that the English tour was far too big and it was hard to hear the guide in some...More

Unlike any other church I have ever been in. The visit was made extra special thanks to the friendly and well informed seminary students who were stationed at the church for the summer. They were amazing and knowledgeable guides.
