Only church that is regularly holding services
Aug 2016 • Family
Although the church was renovated in the late 1970's it has kept its character. The belfry is a local point of reference but is in poor condition and was a result authorities have advised against the ringing of bells. Advice which was followed for a few months. The town is remote and other than a week in the middle of August it is largely deserted. During that week thee is a small festival, with music and performances. Even in the hottest days the temperature rarely goes above the mid-20's (mid 70's F) and falls dramatically in the evening. People wearing parkas at 10 pm is common in August. Winter is wet and frigid, with no activity other than a bonfire on Saint Anthony Abate's festival. Generally the people are wary of strangers and not very friendly. This applies particularly to the innkeeper at the one Bed and Breakfast - Valle dei Cerri. The Locanda restaurant has a few rooms and is a much better choice.
