Magical bookstore! My husband and I were in awe of the thousands upon thousands of new and old books that graced the shelves in the maze of rooms. I loved how both old books and newer books sat side by side on the bookshelves.

Every year, I read the 3rd grade students I teach two special picture books about books that yearn to have their stories told: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore and The Book No One Ever Read. This bookstore brought those books to life!

Ditto for all the other positive reviews of this wonderful bookstore. Within a short time of entering the store I managed to find a number of books I'd been unable to find elsewhere. The people who run the bookstore are to be congratulated for their work
in creating an oasis of sheer delight for bibliophiles.

This is a second hand bookstore in the classic tradition. Books are organized thematically and somewhat alphabetically at times, but the fun is in the search for something you want and the accidental discovery of something you didn't know you wanted. The rooms seem to go on forever - turn a corner and there are several more to explore. Prices are reasonable. A great place to spend a rainy afternoon!

If you love books and secondhand bookstores - this is the place to go. Plus they also have a great selection of antique prints. You need to plan on lots of time as there is so much to offer here and it includes a rabbit warren of bookshelves with selections for everyone.

This labyrinth of a bookstore is book heaven. Just as an old book has its own curiosities, so does this shop. It is built in an old bank- the vault is currently used to hold books. From the front of the shop, the rooms seem to go on and on without stopping. There are mass produced paperbacks and beautiful books dating to the 1700’s. The air smells like old books. It is a dream.

When visiting a new area, my first search is usually not for restaurants but for used bookstores, and in Lyrical Ballad, I found a gem.

Entering into a deceivingly small main room, you will find yourself branching of into a maze of small rooms, many opening off onto more rooms. The diversity of the collection is quite wide, and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Large sections on local areas of interest such as the Battle of Saratoga and Saratoga Springs track were fascinating glimpses into the past and present of the area.

Book lovers and just the curious will enjoy time in the Lyrical Ballad Bookstore.

I travel to Saratoga from NYC about 4 times a year give or take. Since the first time I stepped foot in lyrical ballads I have made sure to go back every single time I visit Saratoga. It is my favorite bookstore hands down, the majority of my collection is from this store. The prices are extremely fair and the staff doesn't bother you. You can spend all day in this store discovering hidden gems. They have every type of book imaginable. I personally am a fan of nature and plant books which often go ignored in many used bookstores... not at lyrical ballads. I have found so many treasures. I love this place. I would move to Saratoga just to be closer to this bookstore. Also Saratoga is awesome. Best Bookstore.

Great book shop - packed today with the April freeze. Spent a very pleasant 15 minutes in here - places to sit and read too. Nice staff.

The Lyrical Ballad Bookstore on Phila Street in Saratoga Springs is certainly one of the best new and second hand bookstores I’ve ever been in. And this includes bookstores in New York City, Cairo and Rome for comparison. It is truly an extraordinary place. Perhaps trending toward the classics – Shakespeare, Dante and Milton – but you’ll find pretty much anything your heart desires here. And unlike my fav used bookstore in my hometown of Washington, D.C., Lyrical Ballad is neat, clean, nicely arranged and orderly. When I asked if they had any children’s books I was shown a very extensive corner full of Dr. Seuss, Mathilde, Babar, Sendak, Dahl, Silverstein and a host of others. I purchased half a dozen for my grandson. It is a wonderful place that if you are a book lover you will not want to miss.

Every city has one of those places that you are compelled to visit whenever you are in the area. Lyrical Ballad Bookstore is one of those places. I always enter with at least one collectible I wish to inquire about, and always leave with at least one book I had no idea I wanted. I don;t even hesitate to visit with my two younger granddaughters becasue there is plenty to occupy their time as well. This trip I found a collectible I had been tracking down for 10 years, but could not find it at a reasonable price. The owner, having two copies, was open to negotiation and we struck an agreeable deal we could both live with. Of course, on my way out I still found another more contemporary book that I just had to have.
