Overview
More
The purpose of the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery is to awaken the community to the richness and diversity of the human experience through the medium of art. The Tang invites curiosity and collaborative learning through active engagement with ideas, artworks, and exhibitions. Programming tailored to foster formative connections between contemporary art and students of all ages is central. Critical to this end are direct experiential opportunities for Skidmore students to participate in integral aspects of museum practice. The Tang Museum collects works of art, which by their preservation and display, provide opportunity for further study. A vigorous publication program serves as a learning tool and will join regular traveling exhibitions as important means of outreach.

Hi Olivia, Thanks for the five-star review! Just so you know, in summer 2017, the public has two opportunities to tour the Print Study Room on the Tang's second floor and the Collections Storage area on the first floor. The first is during Frances Day,...More

The Tang of course has its possibilities and offers decent jazz concerts and passable art. The only problem I have with the Tang and Skidmore in general is that it substitutes pseudo-blue blood art, music, education for solid artistic achievement. The audiences that attend events...More

Attended a lecture on "A womens place is in the White House" the other night. Great space, set up very comfortably, a nice experience all around.

A well curated museum on Skidmore's campus, contemporary art that's thoughtful and compelling. Artists we weren't familiar with but were enlightened by.

The exhibit was all sexual exploration. It was not interesting or enjoyable. Could have found a better use of my 20 minutes.
