In any visit to Potsdam, you don't want to miss seeing this beautiful red sandstone edifice on "the island." Virtually unchanged since I sang in the choir 60 years ago, this classic Anglican parish reflects the best of Potsdam.

I grew up in this church but never fully realized the magnificence of the Tiffany glass windows until I came back for a visit. They are magnificent, some even signed by Louis Comfort Tiffany..........please treat yourself to a visit there, as this parish has tried very very hard to keep them in great condition for the entire community to appreciate. This church, built by the Clarkson family, founders of Clarkson University here, is a replica of their church in downtown Manhattan, near the former WTC. It really is worth your time to see this priceless collection.....be sure to see the window on the right with the lantern, which Tiffany made to appear as if its glowing, at all times. Amazing to have this treasure in Potsdam, NY. - go see them if you can.

If you enjoy beautiful church sanctuaries, you will love this one. The Clarkson family that founded Clarkson University also founded Trinity Church and they filled it with some of the most beautiful stained glass you will see anywhere. At least one is signed by Tiffany himself. Visit on a sunny day for the best experience.

This church is a beautiful example of the Potsdam sandstone. It was built in 1835 in the Federal style with Gothic elements. Seven windows were installed in the nave by Tiffany studios of New York City between 1894 and 1927; these are considered museum pieces, and several are signed. The windows are especially stunning and have just been renovated! The park outside the church is restful and peaceful, with benched overlooking the Raquette River, taking a rest there with a coffee from Jernabi across the street is very serene!
I've been to concerts with the Orchestra of Northern New York and violin/viola recitals there and the music is always lovely!

Trinity Church - also known as the Sandstone Church - sits on a very small island in the Racquette River in Potsdam NY. It's constructed from the local red sandstone and is one of the most historic structures in Potsdam. Fine organ too. It's worth checking out. I have stopped to visit it many times.

After seeing the church on TripAdvisor, we added it as place to visit. Glad we did, not only did we get to see its architecture of the past, we were able to see the awesome artwork of the inside by attending a service. The church and the artwork was beautiful as was the service. The pastor and congregants welcomed us with open arms. The church and the picturesque surroundings are worth the visit.

We did not try to go inside the church. Since things are still shut down. The architecture of this church is just beautiful!

I just had the most incredible tour of this beautiful church that I have drove by and walked by since I was a child in the sixties. I'm back for a visit in Potsdam and I read about the church and the Tiffany stained glass windows. I took a chance that someone would be here and that I could go inside and view the beauty of thos incredible sandstone Church. I was lucky enough that Gerard was here and showed me around and explained the different features of the windows. This is truly an amazing gem we have here in Potsdam and I'm so glad I finally stopped. Enjoy!

The location next to the river gives it that old world feel. I wasn't able to go inside The grounds have big trees that ad to the overall beauty of the church.
