Overview
More
The Casa de la Zacatecana (Zacatecan's Home) Museum features a collection of decorative art from Mexico, Europe and the East, as well as sculptures and paintings dating back to the Seventeenth to Twentieth Centuries. The museum is named after the central character of a series of events that gave rise to a famous legend from the city of Zacatecas, in the northern Mexico. The old mansion where the museum is housed dates back to the Eighteenth Century, and is a traditional high-class home of the New Spain society. It consists of eleven halls, and a brief introductory video. A visit to this museum will provide a glance at the day-to-day life of yesteryear that took place un this mansion.

On a quiet side street, this museum is different from the other sites in the colonial center -- this one shows how upper class in Queretaro lived in the 19th century. Beautiful furnishings, ceramics, paintings and more. The other unusual aspect is the story of...More

The house itself has been beautifully restored, and each room has beautiful collections. I really enjoyed looking at the furniture and the glassware, and the view over Querétaro from the lookout is stunning.

Old home with a very interesting history. Great period furniture. Unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. I would recommend it for people interested in learning about this period of Mexican history.

Fairly organised and regulated for a small place. The entry ticket includes a part guided tour in Spanish followed with relevant videos. If you're a history buff and like connecting with the characters who once lived there - you'd love it!

Allegedly the site of an 18th-century crime of passion (luridly recounted in an explanatory video), the Casa de la Zacatecana is primarily interesting as an intact example of a colonial residence of the period. Each of the patio-facing rooms on two floors has been furnished...More
