Terrific performance!
Aug 2019
I have been attending performances at the Forestburgh Playhouse for many years. The performances are generally extraordinary, with very talented actors and actresses. The management always does their best to make sure that the show is high quality and entertaining. The reason I cannot give the playhouse 5 stars is that some of the seating is very uncomfortable. Even after the recent renovations of the theater, some rows are still very uncomfortable. I will be attending next year's shows, however I will choose my seats very carefully.

Summer Stock done right!!
Aug 2019
When you drive onto the grounds of the Forestburgh Playhouse you are greeted by a beautiful perennnial garden Something to enjoy before or after the show. We were there to see "Priscilla Queen of the Desert". The Playhouse is very rustic sort of a converted barn from an Andy Hardy and Judy Garland movie. The seats are new having just been replaced and the room is air conditioned and comfortable. The stage is small but a clever director used it very wisely. The cast is made up mostly of students from theater colleges, but there are some professionals as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Our friends who saw it on Broadway said it was excellent. The cast was enthusiastic and talented, what more can you ask. The Playhouse is close to rte. 17 accessible from the south by the thruway and from the east by rte. 84. We will be back to see some more great theater, way, way off Broadway.

Professional, very talented acting, directing, music, and stagecraft.

We had a great time experiencing the first rate acting, singing, and quality musicians who were part of The Buddy Holly Story. The epitome of professional theater in a summer stock setting. The Forestburgh Playhouse has an excellent reputation for professional caliber theater. You won't be disappointed.

Play was on the Mark but the Tavern was Out of season
Jul 2019 • Friends
Enjoyed the play...cast of many talents hidden away in the barn woodsy setting......well run production that made good use of a small stage and in fact showcased a group of individuals that actually might have a shot at making it to Broadway. Would love to see them take on The Drowsy Chaperone.
The luncheon served before the show at the Tavern was tasty and generous. Definitely a great deal for luncheon and a show......my complaint is that it was a meal better served in the fall or winter.....not on a hot summer day. I could guess the staff was trying to hit an English theme but Bangers and Mash
And butternut squash with a molasses based pudding just doesn’t work at 84 degrees. It put many in my party to sleep....Better to think of something like a high tea presentation or lighter fare.

Thanks so much for your kind words! We definitely appreciated your attendance. Our food was a British theme due to the nature of Me and My Girl being set in London. I am so glad that the food was tasty! Thanks for your feedback as well, we will certainly consider it when planning future menus!

Great entertainment

Visited the Catskills this summer and was fortunate enough to attend Mamma Mia at this theater. Top notch cast, great production. The playhouse itself is rustic and gorgeous. The seats were very comfortable and the acoustics were great. Glad we went.

Wonderful Entertainment
Jul 2018 • Friends
Went to the playhouse when I heard they were doing a production of "Fiddler on the Roof", which I had seen on Broadway in NYC. Let me tell you, none of us were disappointed. The play was awesome, the actors were great, the vocals were wonderful. The playhouse is a renovated barn but has great acoustics and lighting. Went back this past weekend to see Mama MIa and again it was wonderful.
The tavern there is an added bonus - you can see a Cabaret act and have a few cocktails before/after the play. The caberet act is also available certain nights of the week with a full dinner - haven't tried it yet but definitely going to give it a shot.

Magic of the Forest
Aug 2018
Who knew that in the middle of the woods in the Catskills one would find this gem of a theater! The Forestburgh Playhouse replaces the glitz of Broadway with a charming barn theater surrounded by gorgeous gardens. They do not skimp on the talent; bringing in veteran Broadway actors supported by (sometimes vice versa) the "ResCo" who are an extremely talented group of college music theatre majors who you WILL be seeing on Broadway and National tours before you know it. Don't miss the pre and post show cabarets also featuring the ResCo. Good food and drink while you are waited on and entertained by the stars of tomorrow.

Fantastic Summer Theater
Jul 2018
We visited the Forestburgh Playhouse to see Suessicle, Annie, and the Caberet. We totally enjoyed our visit. The grounds are beautiful, with a gorgeous garden to walk through. The entertainment was spectacular. The Resident Company, which provides the ensemble cast for all of the main shows and for the caberet and childrens theater, are extremely talented. It is well worth the time spent at the theater as the preform many musicals.
