A real surprise to find so much of interest and to be able to "feel" what it would have been like to live here within the last century. An interesting "pack" for the children to keep them engaged too. Thoroughly recommended and not expensive for...More

Quite complete and fascinating look at a cave complex which was used until 50 years ago. The place has translations in English which helped. Takes about 1 hr to go round.

What a fantastic place - an interesting, magical and historical site. Really well presented with some superb multimedia displays that really bring out the atmosphere of the ancient cave dwellings. Great value for money for our family of 5, paying 18E for all of us....More

It was truly amazing to see how the rural traditional living of France was. Initially a quarry homes barn and stores were cut into the rock below ground, even with its own church.

My son is studying in Angers and we took a day trip here. It is a very interesting place, well laid-out, and presenting a lot of information. They have a short video to better understand the style of living, as well as two "immersion" experiences...More

In looking for places to visit near Angers, we discovered the existence of the Troglodyte villages. Not what you might expect, but these places owe their existence to the fact that, in excavating sand (itself a product of ancient times when this area was under...More

The museum looks to be quite small from the road, but, because much of it is underground it is surprisingly large. For a few Euros you can see cave dwellings that were in use very recently and learn about the history and lifestyle of those...More

I didn't realise this place and the others like it existed before I had visited the Loire Valley. I came across it in my research of sites to visit and decided that this would be one of them. It's an interesting take on a farming...More

You'll need some type of transportation; perhaps a bus. Enjoy Tours, it's a very interesting town to walk around.
