About
Once considered America's greatest zoo, The Catskill Game Farm housed over 2,000 animals with tens of millions of people having visited during its 73 year history. Today you can stay on the abandoned property and explore what remains. You have two options for your visit. You can spend a night under the stars at one of our private upscale campsites. Or you can stay at our boutique inn, The Old Catskill Game Farm Inn. Our property boasts 200+ mountainside acres, 3.5 miles of the original paved walkways and over 100 buildings of the old animal shelters are still in tact for you to explore.

Brought back memories

It may be the most unique hotel I’ve ever stayed it. They converted the giraffe house into a 5 room hotel. It was decorated with the old Catskills game farm signs. Our room was spacious but lacked quality soaps and shampoo. Surprisingly there was only one role of toilet paper in the room. There a kitchen where you were able to cook breakfast, I made bacon and eggs. The old park is in a state of ruins and was fun to explore. They have goats that roam the grounds, chickens and cows. It was a nice experience

Amazing Experience Staying at the Old Catskill Game Farm!
Sep 2021
This was an incredible stay at the Long Neck Inn at the Old Catskills Game Farm. All of the staff was so friendly and welcoming. I stayed in the Giraffe room which is the largest room and it was beautifully decorated. Had a great time talking to the Manager Moshe and Shawn the security caretaker was so great to talk to in answering many questions I had about the history of the farm. I spent 8 hours exploring the grounds of the game farm and it was truly remarkable. Sid the owner has done an amazing job at renovating the Giraffe barn and turning it into a stunning boutique hotel. It was a peaceful nights stay and just mesermerizing walking around taking beautiful photos of whats left of the over 120 buildings still standing of the game farm. I am excited about having the chance to come back again! This is truly a very unique experience that you cant find anywhere else!

nostalgic! Best weekend trip idea, clean comfortable and so fun to explore
Jul 2021
what a great time!! the inn was comfortable, clean and we enjoyed touring the grounds as well. I loved trying to match up my old photos to the current location. It was so nostalgic to go back and see the place that so many of us spend part of our childhood while on vacation! the only suggestion we had was to put signs at the locations stating what might have been there or even have an old photo of how it looked. I hope you continue to restore this great property!

Unique experience

Booked The Long Neck Inn with a group of friends and had a wonderful time. It was a unique experience to stay at an old zoo turned hotel. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and walking our dog (a few rooms are pet friendly) on the property.

Beautifully restored and comfortable Inn
Sep 2019
Spent a weekend in the fall at this lovely Inn in the Catskills. Cathy is a gracious host and exceedingly knowledgeable of the history of the Old Game Farm. The inn is impeccably decorated with memorabilia from the property giving it a nostalgic feel. Rooms are warm and cozy with all the amenities to be desired. We stayed in the elephant room.

I wish we had left more time to tour the grounds and get some hiking in. We did wander the property and explored many of the abandoned buildings which was a unique experience.

Definitely worth a visit any time of the year!

Abandoned zoo has lovely accommodations and camping
Sep 2019
We stayed at the Tentrr wooded site, which is a remote campsite on the grounds of the Old Game Farm. We also had access to the Long Neck Inn.

Cathy and Ben are fantastic hosts. They are both very friendly and accommodating, and each answered any questions we had. Cathy was particularly knowledgeable about the history of the site, and shared with us their vision for the future.

The Long Neck Inn is beautiful. It has many modern accommodations, but it retains the look of a giraffe house. They have preserved many of the old signs from the Game Farm, which are beautiful (many are hand painted). The bathroom and kitchen facilities are gorgeous, and I enjoyed their coffee bar. We hope to be back sometime in the winter to stay at the Long Neck Inn and enjoy one of the guest rooms - I'm sure they are as beautiful as the rest of the Inn.

Our tent at the wooded site was remote, tucked into ruins from a farm that predates the Game Farm. Everything was well kept, and we enjoyed the camping experience with a few added modern conveniences.

We spent one day exploring the Old Game Farm. There are miles of trails and plenty of buildings to explore. If you're interested in Hudson Valley history, or if you visited the Old Game Farm as a kid, this is a real treat.

Game farm revisited
Sep 2018 • Couples
It was nice to spend a day hiking the old game farm. Although there are no animals most everything else is intact. It was an easy walk filled with memories and would recommend this to anyone else who frequented the park before it closed. We would have preferred to have a bathroom on site. We walked the entire park in 4 hours.

The Old Game Farm was purchased by a young couple who are trying to open it again, but not as a traditional zoo. It is open for exploring as it has been aired on TV as one of America’s Abandoned Places. It is no longer abandoned and is being upgraded. The old giraffe house has been transformed into an upscale venue for weddings and other events. It also has lodging facilities. There is also upscale luxury camping units with private settings. It is a great place to explore. Self-guided tours are available and dates are posted on the website.

Really unique place to visit
Jul 2018 • Couples
I only went here once as a child and I don't really remember it (my wife didn't remember it either). However, that didn't stop us from thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to walk through the old park. This isn't an opportunity that is available often, so it was really unique. It is a great place to take pictures, especially if you are into old buildings and decay. We spent hours here walking around and taking pictures.
