Visit several times during our daughters senior year at SLU, and always enjoyed the beer and the hospitality. Thanks!

Our daughter was playing hockey in Canton and we had a dozen people coming in from 4 different states so the only place we knew we had to hit before the game was the Hoot Owl. This is the classic college bar. You have to stop in if you're in town.

Set in a fabulous old train station! Go for the lime Rickey's (vodka, not gin) and free popcorn. This place could be a movie set, but it's better. The Hoot is laid back, unselfconscious, and welcoming without trying too hard. St. Lawrence, SUNY Canton, folks who live locally frequent the place, but you won't find it unless you're looking for it. Take Park Street in Canton, heading South. The driveway runs parallel to the train tracks. If you cross the tracks, you've gone too far.

This bar used to be a train station and now is a very popular hang out for a local college students, most notably from St. Lawrence University located here in Canton. Wonderful local setting and recently named one of the best dive bars in northern New York for 2018! Free popcorn, local beer, great signage and welcoming atmosphere. Reminded me of college bars from back in the day!

this bar is in an old train depot and is like stepping back to the old time bars of the 60's and 70's; good mixture of young and veteran customers; near St. Lawrence Univ.

Very young crowd, music too loud. Wanted to have a beer and got 50 questions from a older guy who said he was the owner.
