The hike isn't long or very hard though you do need to watch where you're walking on the rocky and uneven trail. The views in the Sandia Mountains are amazing, as are the far distant views back toward Bernalillo and to the north. The harder...More

You drive down a VERY bumpy road until you see the signs and parking lot. You may need an SUV or truck to survive the road. The trail is a slow uphill walk. The view is spectacular so bring your camera. You’ll be surprised by...More

This 10-15 minute hike was so beautiful. The views of the mountains are just breathe taking. The road to this hike is very bumpy. I recommend if you are planning on taking this trip to use a truck. The road to the hike is about...More

This cave is easily reached after a 15 minute hike up the mountain where you reach a spiral staircase in a metal cage to gain entrance to the cave. If you plan to go deeper into the cave ensure that you have good sources of...More

Had a great time nice trails. Great views. It was a good hike but not to strenuous. Great time of year to go. Saw many people walking everyone was very nice. A great place to take the family but some sketchy parts of the trail.

Take SR 165 east off I25 all the way to the sign pointing to the parking area off to the left. Be prepared to drive the last three miles on a very bumpy, rutted dirt road. We made it in a Mustang, but had to...More

An interesting place to visit if you don't mind a few miles on a well-maintained dirt road, a continuation of Highway 165 from Bernalillo to Sandia Peak. Climb a couple hundred feet up from the creek on a good trail and stairs to the entrance...More

I took my two young sons to the Sandia Man Cave while visiting the area in early October 2015. The road isn't difficult as my front wheel drive passenger car had no problems at all. The hike is brief and doesn't have a whole lot...More

We were staying in Bernalillo, decided to visit the Sandia Man Cave, which wasn't very far from us. It's kind of a rough gravel road the last 4 miles in, but not horrendous. It's a pleasant 1/2 mile hike to the cave. There's a skinny...More

Read all about the controversy; but this place was a cave for the ancients. You can see why when you make the climb. Great observation site. Prepare to get dirty as you duck down and into this cave.
