I must say I knew very little about the Huguenots before I came to this museum. I have a friend who was descended from them, but I know very little just from the stories he told. This museum showed a lot about their journey to...More

We wanted to turn around back in to Franschoek and then noticed this building. Quite nice to see how the olden day buildings looked inside. I really like the display where you look into an old farm house - quite interesting.

The visit to the Hugenot museum was in stark contrast to the Castle in Cape Town. It was informative and the museum and area is well run. Got more info about the VOC there than at the castle

A rather symbolic and imposing monument, not particularly beautiful and best enjoyed from the road side from a distance.

Well worth a visit just to see how 16th & 17th Century French Protestants suffered severe persecution at the hands of the Catholic majority. South Africa became the beneficiaries of the huge influx of highly skilled Huguenots.

This is a nice place to visit while in Franschoek, plenty of interesting exhibits tracing the Huguenot history and influence in the Franschoek region. It's split across 2 sites (opposite each other), and I think that the entry fee (very modest) does allow you to...More
