no longer worth the time to visit
May 2021
the structure itself is as lovely as ever, however the gardens are just a mere shadow of their former beauty. The stunning, award winning plantings in the cottage garden style that complimented the architecture of the lighthouse so perfectly have been replaced with unimaginative, ordinary bedding plants.
Breaks my heart to see all the beautiful work Steve Murray and his friends put into the garden destroyed.
No more Maritime Festival....the N.J. Lighthouse Society dropped the site in the annual Lighthouse Challenge!
Way to go Mayor Rosenello!

Ok visit

Ordinary garden. Colorful with some non exceptional planting. Quite good for the shore, but not elsewhere. For those easily impressed by a splash of color. Too much noise from the surrounding condos

Beautiful Lighthouse
Jun 2020
Found this little gem a couple of years ago while taking an early morning walk while in North Wildwood. I haven't been inside yet, but the grounds are just beautiful. I make sure I walk to at least this point every visit.

Stunningly Beautiful Lighthouse

Gorgeous Victorian house with a Lighthouse on top. Check for hours. Very close to beach. Unique style but worth the trip for lighthouse lovers.

More than just a Lighthouse!
Jan 2020
Unfortunately, their website said it would be open daily during the winter months but we found that to be untrue. Being that it is a Lighthouse you can still appreciate it form the outside, the gardens are dormant and still are maintained and beautiful ~ walking through the back leads you right to the beach!
there is a small parking lot right on the side of the lighthouse and borders the police station.

Beautiful light house and garden
Oct 2019
A must do while in North Wildwood, New Jersey. It was a short drive from our hotel at Esplanade suites. The lighthouse is opened to public. As you explore the house so much history is seen by photos of the families who lived there with the keepers. Beautiful garden on the grounds and behind the garden leads to the seawall area which was so surprise. The woman at the lighthouse was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend a visit.

Our October day trip
Oct 2019
On a beautiful Friday afternoon we visited the Hereford Inlet Light house and we were happy that we did, the facility is well maintained and staffed with a very knowledgeable person and the station is furnished with period furniture. this is a great way to spend an afternoon, the gardens are not in tip top condition due to the season changing but peace and tranquility can be had sitting in the garden or on the Ocean front walkway at the rear of the property. I love Light houses and will visit as many as I can.

A Hidden Gem
Aug 2019
We visited this lighthouse late August 2019 and I was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful garden. We kept walking on the trail and found ourselves on the sea wall with very nice views. There is no admission although they do ask for a donation. We walked through the lighthouse which is also a museum. Very interesting information and the garden flowers were very pretty.

Favorite place in this area
Sep 2019 • Couples
The lighthouse itself is interesting, but the garden is the real prize here. The wooden Victorian house and tower has been nicely restored, with a good sense of how the keepers and their families lived. This was a standard Lighthouse Service design, there are duplicates in Oregon and along the west coast. Over the years it was moved back from the sea several times as the coastline changed.

The garden has been a 20 year volunteer effort, and it is a very colorful and relaxing example of a Victorian flower and shrub garden. You can walk thru to a paved seawall which is a nice walk along the shore.

Hidden Gem
Aug 2019
We've been coming to the Wildwoods for nearly 30 years, and had no idea this place existed until this year. After stumbling upon it while bike riding along the Seawall, we decided to stop in. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, the lighthouse is a well-restored, but unassuming building. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable. There are many historical artifacts to look at, and a plethora of historical information can be found throughout the house. There are 2-3 additional levels above the "lobby" area which house older beacons, photographs, and artifacts. The the higher levels provide wonderful views of the sea and Wildwood.
