It is arguably the most beautiful church of Burlington, by most accounts, with lovely atmosphere and beautiful sacral design. It can be a bit confusing first searching for this church because there are in a sense two St Marys - Old St. Mary's and the New St. Mary's.
The Old one is a National Historic Landmark and is a smaller 18th century structure. But adjacent is the "New church".
It was built in the middle of 19th century in brownstone Gothic Revival-style and modeled after a church in England. The distinctive character is enhanced by the bell tower with several bells and a spire on top. If possible try to go in. The church has a long nave and nice interior.
Since 1986 it is on National Register of Historic Places .
See also the cemetery.

A well maintained lovely church. Although we could not view the inside of the church, the outside is worth the stop. Very well kept grounds.

This church has been beautifully maintained. It is a very photogenic place. The graveyard is also well maintained. Sot some history here and was great to be able to drive by and get out for fotos.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Burlington, New Jersey is not just a local treasure, but also a state and national one, as well.
St. Mary's Parish was founded in 1702 and the Old Church was built in 1703. The Old Church is still standing on the corner of West Broad and Wood Streets and is still used by the parish. The new church was built between 1846 and 1854. It was designed by notable architect Richard Upjohn, who also designed Trinity, Wall Street. It is the oldest continuously open Episcopal Church in New Jersey and is considered the Mother Parish of New Jersey. The entire complex (Old Church, New Church, Guild House, and Churchyard) are on the National Historic Register of Historic Places and are also listed as a National Historic Landmark. The Churchyard pre-dates the church, and many notable people in history are buried here including Elias Boudinot (president of the Continental Congress), Daniel Coxe (Governor of West Jersey), and Franklin D'Olier (founder of the American Legion).
The churches are only open for services. Services are in the New Church from the Sunday after Labor Day until mid-June. Service times are 5:30 PM Saturday, and 7:30 AM and 9 AM Sunday. Services are moved to the Old Church during the summer months. The churches are also often open for special events like the Wood Street Fair. Whether or not the churches are open, feel free to wander through the Churchyard during daylight hours.
