Bought the Groupon back in May for my wife's Birthday and with all the recent whale sightings of Sandy Hook she decided it was time to get out there. The MBP was clean and as the seas were calm and the sun shining, it turned out to be a perfect day. The whales did not disappoint either and the pod spent our time on the sea playing tag with the boat running us around in circles at times. Speaking of pods, we also saw several dolphins in close to shore! Just a great day out on The Miss Belmar Princess.
Word of advice... get there early because the parking lot is busy.
Thanks

Great striper day, We filled the boat with keepers and the # of us took home 10lbs of fish meat. My son didn't catch so the Captain took him around the boat to get him a fish, It was an awesome day of fishing. We saw striper swarming the beach and whales breaching the surface, So go to Miss Belmar Princess if you want a great day out on the water, We go about every other month and only had 1 tough day of fishing.

I received a 4 hour trip for 2 as a birthday gift a year ago.
Everyone had been busy & couldn't get a trip scheduled until about 3 days before they stopped running the half day trips.
Naturally, the day of our trip a storm came in and we were cancelled.
The last trips of the season were already sold out,so they actually set me up so I could just rebook the trip when they started up again this season.
The only drawback was in the meantime the state changed the regulations on seabass, fuel prices went nuts, and the Princess was not running half day trips this year.
But they booked me on the Royal Miss Belmar instead for a 4 hour trip.
I believe it was my first time on that boat.
And I was pleasantly surprised.
The captain was a good guy with lots of great stories to tell when he wasn't driving around looking for fish.
The fish were less than cooperative but I can't blame anyone but the fish for that.
I usually go on the 7 hour trip which I would have preferred yesterday since they were fishing for blues, and the blues have been more cooperative than the seabass lately.
But it was still a great day & far better than going to work.
I would definitely recommend the Royal Miss Belmar for a half day trip. But also, check the reports before you decide what to go for.
They bust their butts to put you on fish. But if the fish don't want to bite the crew can't put them on your lines for you.

This trip was chaotic from start to finish. We arrived on time and the boat was packed by the time we got there. Eventually found a very small space to sit. We are a family of four and found a spot for with 4 poles and two small seats to squeeze into. Deckhand walked up with family of about 6 and told them that the poles in front of us were theirs. This family stood right in front of us because they had a reserved spot (ant that point the entire boat was packed and there was no where else for us to go) After we had gotten out to the ocean they were moved down the smallest bit after much complaining. It was a rough ride that day (I know that was no one’s fault) so most of the trip several people were vomiting over the side of the boat (which I know is also no one fault) with how crowded it was we had people on both sides of us throwing up so imagine how fun that is. This was a 3/4 day trip which so about 7.5 hours which turned in to about a 3.5 trip, due to a medical emergency (nothing too serious lady was in the parking lot walking back and forth didn’t leave with medical services) which again I understand isn’t anyone fault. However I paid via Groupon a trip for 4 was $260 (the deck hands by the way talk badly about all the people using Groupon it occurred several times, I guess they didn’t realize I used Groupon). $20 per person was offered for a future trip for it being cut short but only if you pay cash. So I paid $260 for 4 on Groupon with rods and bait. it is $100 per person if you pay cash ( and that’s not including bait and rods) so I’d pay considerably more with their discount on a future trip. My boys were really looking forward to this trip so on top of all that no one really caught any fish we left really disappointed and felt ripped off. We have been on several party boats and have never had such a bad experience as this one.

I knew there was an issue when the captain steam north when reports were south. Again we pay to find fish but it seem no fish finder equipment was used. Ship stopped at frequently boat stops, nothing new. Results was poor at best over 20 anglers 6 fish caught you have better shot fishing off a pier.

Waste of money in my opinion it’s not cheap and the experience was horrible. Captain should stick to whale watching not fishing.

We got several good looks at a humpback whale, including the tail, so the trip was worth it for me. The water was VERY rough, though, and I was disappointed with how the boat crew handled the situation. On the way out, people sat in chairs on the upper deck that were not secured and they started sliding around. The crew treated passengers like it was their fault and they should have known not to sit in those chairs (even though they were provided). The trip took a major turn for the worse on the way back. We were running late so the captain was going faster. More than a dozen passengers were throwing up and pretty much everyone else was close. While this was going on, the boat crew was nowhere to be found. The passengers grabbed sick bags and paper towels from behind the counter/snack bar and handed them out. Many people were in very bad shape. Bottom line: the crew should warn people about rough water, proactively tell people where to sit before it gets rough, make announcements with strategies to fight motion sickness, and stick around to hand out sick bags, paper towels, and other supplies when passengers are ill.

I have been on the Miss Belmar’ various trips many times over the years. I keep coming back because they know what they are doing and are truly a family oriented business. I have been on other boats but never the same emphasis on customer service and satisfaction. Even if we don’t catch, which is rare they do their utmost to keep us happy and the mates go above and beyond to teach us things to help us do as well as guide the events to help land the catch. The Administrative folks are very nice and do the best to keep you informed of the upcoming trip and handling reservations. The entire organization is open to critique and have even acted on suggestions about ways to provide different offerings and improvements. I’ve been on many boats in many states in my 66 years and Miss Belmar is the best!

From the time you pull up to the curb, the crew is waiting to unload your gear and bringing it on the ship. Whether you’re a novice angler or experienced, the crew is showing you new techniques to increase your chances of being successful. For the Captain, He is monitoring fish movement and consistently putting you on them. It is not uncommon on a good day for the ship to to creel 70-100 Stripers. The action is fast paced and memorable. Save yourself the research time and book with the Miss Belmar Princess or the Royal Belmar Princess. You won’t regret it.

We did 2 trips over the Labor Weekend with my 2 sets of grandsons, my son in law, my cousin and my brother in law, Weather was spectacular as was the fishing both days! Capt. Alan took us out on Saturday with crew of John, Rich, Winston, and Lucas. These guys are the best in Belmar!! Totally helpful with the gear, bait & tackle, and teaching the kids the ropes. From reel tangles to line tangles they handled it all with patience and good humor(John &Rich) on a full boat of 60 + anglers.
All was delivered as described on the website and I highly recommend the boat for fisherman of all levels. My gang will back for stripers after Halloween see you guys then!

We had a wonderful time on the Royal Miss Belmar fishing for stripers. The crew and captains were all really great! They were enthusiastic, fun and helpful! They truly worked the entire time we were out! We came for my 15 year old son's birthday with his buddy. They each were able to catch a fish and one of the crew members let me reel in a big fish, also. It was a great day out on the boat where the captain's main goal was to make sure as many people caught a fish as possible. Even the food they cooked on the grill was good! I highly recommend this fishing trip for anyone interested in getting out to catch fish!
