A must when in Virginia City. Perfect, little place to lose yourself in a bit of locomotive history. Geoff/Jeff, who I believe manages the place, is terrific!

Beautiful cosmetic restoration (engine will not operate) of the 1870's 4-4-0 steam engine 'Dayton'. Some additional local information; operated by State of Nevada, in association with the Nevada RR Museum in Carson City.

A very nice old steam engine dominates the whole museum with a few displays around the outside including Chinese laborers & some mining info. The docent was ready to answer our questions

Nice little museum. The staff was really helpful about what else to see in the area. Worth checking out if spending a day in Virginia City.

A quick wander through the History Center is well worth the time it takes. It gives you a glimpse into a bit of the history of the town, and won't take a lot of time to enjoy!

would fun to see this small collection of historic artifacts. They have done a good job in this town to provide their history for all of us to enjoy. All the people were very friendly

I'm a model train builder. I was building a replica of this engine and use it for reference. This has been beautifully restored, although it does not run. Several interesting facts, and it's free. Just a short walking distance from the main drag of town.
