Fortunately it was open when we were there. Very Authentic -- apparently, when the new court house was built, they all just walked away and left what was there, desks, office equipment, books, registers, etc. Frank the docent was very entertaining, and informative. Upstairs in...More

This is probably the best attraction in Pioche. There is no end to the accuracy of the rooms and people that ran it in the 1800s, it is complete with photographs, written statements, jail logs and on and on...the jail is located behind the courthouse...More

The courthouse was closed for the season. I read the history and peeked in the window. Was disappointed that I could get in to see all the cool stuff I could through the windows. A definite stop when in town.

Interesting, with lots of historical artifacts, old court offices, old courtroom, and a super spooky jail.

I was with my brother and we walked through Pioche early one morning. We found the courthouse but it was closed because it was so early. I peeked through the glass window of the door and looked inside. Many displays of history behind the doors.

It was great touring some of the old west and learning the history of the town. Pioche was known for being the most violent mining town in the west during that time.

A must stop.....it paints the history of the mining town very well. You will see photos from the silver mine era up to the present. The old jail is fun to look at... its just an overall good history of the old West

This neat little museum is a treasure trove of antiquey stuff you'd expect to find in an old courthouse/jail/post office. I'm not an antiques person, but it was fund to look at it all, and there is a LOT. You get a good sense of...More

Pioche -- great place but now almost a ghost town -- has a fascinating history as a rough-and-tumble Wild West mining town that is told so well at this Million Dollar Courthouse. The 1872 building, infamous for its out-of-control building costs, has been preserved and...More

Great historical place. We loved it. Make you go outside and check out the jail and toilets in the back! You can also get a good view of Pioche and the valley from up there.
