Start by cleaning the Strip up. We have stayed at the Strat several times over the last 5 years. My wife and I were just there in July, this whole area has become so nasty I can never recommend it to anyone. If you must go to Las Vegas area stay away from the strip go to some of the better places out of town, Henderson. BOULDER both have far better hotels and casinos. Having said that if , homeless people, nasty hookers, and smelly druggies are your thing then the strip is fir you. My wife now works in Henderson and she has found some really nice places. No hookers. No homeless begging off you and you do not have to worry about tripping over some overdosed druggy. They can not blame anyone except the corporations running everything.

Something for Everyone!

The Strip is a long, fascinating stretch of asphalt and concrete, so get your walking shoes on. There are restaurants, shops, and activities everywhere! My hotel (the Westgate) was at the north end, but there's a Monorail stop there to take you all the way to the south end to begin your walk. Distances are farther than you think, because the hotels are huge, covering lots of linear road frontage. Hotels on the strip are themed, and you can learn a lot by popping into the lobbies. You can also walk for blocks inside a hotel, and I didn't find signage to be great in all of them. If you want to walk a little less or get tired and decide to bail on the walk, the Monorail stops in 9 places, so you can get back on. It runs across the backs of hotels, and you do have to walk to get to it. There are casinos in all the hotels, and any chain restaurant you like can be found on or just off the strip. There are also multiple elevated walkways across Las Vegas Blvd, so you aren't in danger of being run over as you cross the street to be sure you see it all!

Long walk
May 2021
Long long walk, be ready if you want to walk it all thru from The Strat down to the Mandalay.
There is still some construction going on after Wynn and till Strat - not safe area to be and mainly nothing to do there, same as from New York or MGM down to Mondalay - pretty boring. All the game stuff is around the Bellagio hotel, so you might want to stay in that area, without having to walk far away.
Plus the Strip at night time is full of drunks, me*icans and bl*cks, that want to sell you something barely legal.

Hubby and I went out for a walk and didn't realize we were walking for over three hours. Vegas strip has the best malls and scenery.

A good time but be careful...

Both the positive and negative reviews are right on. It is still a good time, but it's costly, and please be careful. I can't believe people bring kids to LV.

Better than I Remember

The strip is alive and well even after the past year. Businesses are doing a good job enforcing mask policy and service continues to be pretty good.

Not for children!!!
Sep 2021
It was way too crowded at night. During the day there was not spot of people watching. All types of freaks and homeless people on the strip. also not a place for any children! All of the famous hotels are on the strip-- cesear, paris, mirage. You can spend hours walking up and down the strip.

Forget the glitzy glam of a once upon Las Vegas
Sep 2021
Well...where do I start? Let me first apologize for the long review. I've been going to las Vegas for years now. I've also looked forward to it and always had so much fun! So I've seen Las Vegas at its very best - clean, controlled, safe, glitzy and glamorous, FUN. That Las Vegas no longer exists - it's become a complete sh*thole - and that's putting it nicely. So here we go:

MASKS - No covid in Las Vegas. People were walking around ALL the casinos with no masks and no enforcement. Signs are clearly placed at all entrances that masks are mandatory. People would walk around with an empty cup and say they are drinking so they don't need to wear the mask.

CASINO/HOTELS - I cover this in the other sections of this writeup. But it's worth noting, before, you'd see the workers in the casinos and hotel front desk or cleaning staff, professional and happy. Everyone working there looked like they didnt know what they were doing and they looked absolutely miserable.

POT - It's now legal and the entire strips smells like it. People are so high walking around - you can't even tell what the f* is wrong with them?

DIRTY - They used to clean the streets every night and clean up all the garbage. Not anymore. Its' become a big garbage can. Garbage everywhere - and filthy, smelly and disgusting.

HOMELESS - OMG...I always knew there was an issue with the homeless but never really saw them on the strip (or saw 1 or 2). Now...they are everyone and in groups. Many are drunk, high or suffering from mental illness. They were digging through the piles of garbage looking for cans. They were all over the strip and all over the bridges. And guess what? They are coming into the casinos now...wandering around - security is useless. Just watching them walk in and turning and looking away. They are sleeping all over the place and they are filthy - black feet, dirt all of their arms. Like they looked like there were working in a coal mine!

LINES - get ready to stand in lines for hours. And while in my younger days, I stood in a few lines for clubs, people are standing in lines for 30 mins to grab a starbucks coffee. Need to ask a question at the players club - be prepared to stand in line for 30 mins while 1 or 2 people try to help and clearly they are new as they are asking each other questions. Want to grab a quick late night pizza slice? guessed it 30 mins!

SECURITY/COPS - You will see alot of cop cars with their lights on - every night on the strip - you will see them all night long - sirens screaming, speedy cop cars down the strip. Cops taking people down and some standing around watching the crowds. They certainly don't make you feel safe. Security in the casinos?? Forget it. These people are senior citizens. I remember back about 5 years ago, 2 guys starting arguing in Bally's and security was there within 30 seconds. where to be found. Homeless, fraudsters, con artists, pick pockets in the casinos and security is standing at the entrance doing nothing.

KIDS - OMG...why do people bring their kids to Las Vegas. There were a tonne of kids there - in strollers in the casinos at 1am. Kids (around 10 years old) running around the casino between the slots machines pressing buttons. I remember back in the day kids needed to stay on the pathway and we saw very few kids. If they verred off, security was there to warn the parents that kids need to stay on the path - refer to my note above. No one even cared. I was disgusted by these parents. The smoky casinos, now smelling of pot - you thought this was a good vacation for your kids?? Get your head examined.

FOOD - It is not cheap anymore. All the prices have gone up considerably. Paying $40 USD for a pizza - that's ridiculous. You can still get your $2.49 footlong hotdog at the bask of casino Royale and Oceans Grille in Miracle Mile shops is good food for cheap. Other than that, be prepared to stand in line (see above) and pay big. $17 USD for a Nashville Chicken sandwich at Excaliber's vegabond - Give me a break. If you want to eat at one of the nicer upscale restaurants, be sure to make reservations - and wait for service. As well, they are having a hard time getting people to work. So be prepared to have a senior citizen as your server or cocktail waitress - long gone are the cute young waitresses.

CROWDS - wall to wall people on the strip and in the casinos. One night, we couldn't even find a slot machine to play and there were so many people in the casino, it was insane. Fremont was packed full of people. Couldn't even move and the crowd was less than stellar - high, drunk, homeless, fraudsters etc...

WINNING - forget it. No winning in Las Vegas. Clearly they are trying to recoup lost revenue from the lockdowns. The MGM properties and Caesar's properties were taking it in big time. I played on a slot machine...i put $100 in and bet $1 each spin...and I won $ not even 30 credits! 100 spins and ZERO!!!!

FREMONT - See note above about crowding. It was so sad and disgusting. As were were leaving, about 10 cops took down some guy. It was the strip on steroids. Unsafe, filthy, homeless suffering mental illness episodes, and no social distancing or masks.

BUS - they have cancelled the ACE- which was an express to Fremont and could take you direct to the outlet mall. Now, you would need to change buses in a very unsafe area to get to the outlet mall. The bus will take you about 40 mins now to Fremont - very crowded on the bus and homeless and drunk/high people sneaking in the back door. I've always felt safe taking the bus before but not anymore. At one point, a girl got on the bus with an older man, she was clearly drugged with her houch showing cuz her dress was so short - and she was too wrecked to even notice. I thought about telling a cop but guess what? You cant find one anywhere.

NO SOCIAL DISTANCING - no social distancing anywhere. No wonder the US has the highest number of deaths from this pandemic. Its like covid isn't a thing there.

YOUNG PEOPLE - Ok..look. I was young once too and I like having a good time. I clubbed and travel with my friends. But the entire strip is full of these 20 somethings. You cant even tell which girls are for hire and which are just trying to dress for Vegas. Classless and seriously pathetic. At MGM Grand, I was watching these kids play beer pong. All of them touching the ball, it falling the floor and rolling through the filth, and then throwing it in the cup and drinking it. Disgusting. oh...and NO MASKS!

GANG PRESENCE - so the vibe has changed from glitz and glam to a bunch of hoodlums swearing and calling each other N*gger with the smell of pot. Groups yelling at each other - I thought OMG...someone is going to get shot! They were in the casinos just walking around being loud and obnixious - not even playing.

THE CHURCH GROUPS - There are alot more churchgoers walking around with signs yelling at people that they will be going to hell. Ummm...ok.

COVID TESTING - To return to Canada, we needed a PCR test. we booked in at worksite labs at the Orleans (parking garage). Simple and easy and we got our results within 4 hours. It costs $90.

So this place is so sad and depressing. I won't be going back until it's cleaned up. Save your money and go somewhere nicer - Maybe come to Canada :) - we are nice here! I'm planning on writing a letter to the mayor of Las Vegas and even the governor - this place is not safe and is disgusting. It will not bring the big conventions or whale gamblers until it's back up to the standard it once was. Very disappointing.

Please drop me a note and let me know if this review is helpful.

Wear comfy shoes!
Sep 2021 • Couples
This was our first time in Las Vegas. The lights and decor were great! We stayed at The Mirage and even tho everything is next to each other, it’s still a good walk. There were plenty of people dressed up, but I recommend comfortable shoes! Just walking by Caesars Palace felt like a mile. There are people that ask you to sign up for free this and free that, we just said no thank you and walked away. They try all kinds of tricks to get you to stop or buy something. There are also ‘show girls’ and ‘chip n dales’ wanting you to take a picture with them for money and homeless people asking for money , again we said no thank you and kept walking. Two things that stuck out to us was the strong smell of weed everywhere(yes we know it’s legal in Nevada) and the amount of people who had small kids on the strip(not judging, just something we would not do). We arrived on a Wednesday and the crowd was not bad thru Thursday. Friday and Saturday it got packed, which we knew would happen. It’s worth seeing and visiting each hotel/casino.
