About
A short 25-minute drive from Las Vegas, the Pioneer Saloon is the oldest drinking establishment in Southern Nevada, featured on many Blockbuster Movies, TV Shows and International Media Productions. The Pioneer Saloon has been operating since 1913. Inside you will see the Carole Lombard/Clark Gable Museum (Free of Charge). The saloon was used as base camp for search and recovery for the passengers of the ill-fated DC-3 flight, where in 1942 actress Carole Lombard lost her life. Her husband Clark Gable sat at the bar for several days burning holes into the bar top waiting for news of his wife’s fate. See the bullet holes in the wall where in 1915 a card shark was shot to death for cheating at cards, ruled a justifiable homicide. The original 1860 potbelly stove still heats the Saloon today. The Saloon is also haunted as seen on the Travel Channel’s “Ghost Adventures”. Take lots of photos you may get a ghost! The Pioneer Saloon offers incredible food boasting a 10-page menu, 4 full service bars, great selection of craft beers on tap and live entertainment on weekends. Very friendly staff, a fun place to visit! Kids Welcome! Family Friendly! Dog Friendly! (on leash) Incredible Food served all day! Plenty of parking! Tours Several tours are offered through the Pioneer Saloon including The History Tour, The Star Gazing Tour, & The Haunted Lockdown Tour. Call for more information or visit our website. Disclaimer: Card Sharks are shot on site Horse Thieves are hung out back Street Girls bringing cowboys in to the saloon must pay for room in advance

- Mark YDes Plaines, Illinois884 contributionsIt's an experienceOldest saloon in the neighborhood or something. Lots of character and lots of movies filmed here. A lot of celebrities have walked through the doors. Can it really qualify as a hidden gem? Hmm. Food for thought. Discuss among yourselves. Band playing outside on a Thursday night, that was cool. Don't expect fancy waiters in tuxes, it ain't that type of place. The staff are down to earth friendly people. I ordered the Naked Legs (smoked chicken wings). They took forever, but to be honest between the music, the beer, and the people I didn't mind so much. Especially because they were worth the wait. Spicy, smoky, crispy... Awesome. Bama sauce was the perfect compliment. I had been driving all day, this was the perfect place to unwind.Visited June 2023Traveled soloWritten September 8, 2023

- Betty S12 contributionsPioneer Saloon Goodsprings NVWe love to come here when we are in Nevada. Ordered a Poltergeist Burger and a High Blue Cactus Burger. Burgers were perfectly done, filling, and delicious. Margarita was excellent. Friendly service and we felt welcomed. Amazing amount of history in the saloon. It's a Nevada Historical Landmark.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 30, 2023
- Brad SSainte Genevieve, Missouri226 contributionsHidden Gem… St. Louis Connection!Stopped in here for lunch with the wife… great atmosphere in an old saloon. This is not a fancy place but it isn’t supposed to be! Co-owner from St. Louis and they have St Louis style pizza with PROVEL cheese, St. Louis style ribs and gooey butter cake!!! I had the pizza and wife had the sloppy Joe sliders… both amazing!! Prices are a bit high but worth the experience. Will definitely be back when visiting Vegas!Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 22, 2024
- baaaaaaaFountain Valley, California2,282 contributionsOld School hangout with live musicJust a few miles off the 15. Take Jean offramp. Old mining town with saloon relatively unchanged through the years. No slot machines or table games. Live music and friendly service. Nice menu selection with milk shakes. Girlfriend loved the hamburger, me so-so. When traffic gets backed up this is an excellent side trip. Will be backed. Inside and outside tables too. Not crowded.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 16, 2024

If I could give this negative points I would. First off my wife and 3 younger kids (2 - young teens and a 10 year old) walk in and the young blonde lady and young guy behind the overly cluttered bar ignored us and didn't even acknowledge that we were in there. My youngest son asked if they have FarCry souvenirs because this game is based off this town and she rudely said no we don't have those anymore. She then told my wife to go next door to the bar if we wanted to eat, so we did. We sat down and ordered drinks, a salad and 3 chicken quesadillas. After an hour of waiting and being told they were coming right out I decided to cancel our order and leave. There were people who came in after us and a couple guys who got their cheeseburgers and their salads before we got our food, plus she came and asked if we wanted refills after waiting 45 minutes.

Love driving to places and experiencing what they are about. This place was one of them. Purposely drove 3 hrs to check this place out as it has quite a bit of history to it. The food was good, the place was not bad given its years of service. You can definitely see time in the building itself. The staff were great and very friendly. Service was good. The margarita was great. I got the ribs and the flavor was great. The mushroom burger was good too. Was not disappointed with my food. Also, they have a live band playing towards the back of the patio. Even though we were seated inside by the bar area (it was cooler), the live music was still so loud. Coming from Riverside, CA, it was not worth the 3 hr drive but if you are on your way to vegas or coming back, you might as well check it out. We only went straight to the saloon. There are mentions of ghost town but we didn’t explore any further as it was a hot day.

I really like the history of the town and this place has quite a few old photos and artifacts on display. The food was fine, had the ghost burger, very filling. I asked the waitress if there were any ruins or ghost town type things to see and she said no. But in front of the building is a plaque with QR code you scan and do a walking tour of all the old houses and building dating back to the early 1900s. So there ARE ruins to see! That waitress needs to get a clue, like seriously.

Don't go or if you do go plan on spending a bundle for the experience. Cool saloon on an out of the way road. Way to much for the food you get and over priced liquor. We had a burger the size of an IN N Out burger for 16.99. They added 50 cent to the drink we ordered. They added 3 bucks for the smallest size of potato salad that we thought came with the burger. No fries etc with the burger price. Save your money and try something else. Take a look at the receipt and you'll get a idea of the feeling we had of being ripped off.

This is the old west, for real! Established in 1913, this place has a beautiful old bar with the giant mirror behind it. Lunch was good, staff is friendly. Lots of history, including bullet holes in the wall from a long-ago skirmish. It was freezing the day we came so we ate inside in the bar area, but there's lots of outdoor seating and we will come back when it's warmer. There is also a small general store. 45 minutes or less from Las Vegas so an easy side trip.

Oldest bar in Nevada it is replete with history and ghosts. We met the owners and were regaled with stories of Lombard and Clark Gable as well as frontier poker games that involved shootings and mayhem.
Great country band playing outside. The gun-slinger ambiance can't be beat and the staff was friendly.
We were there with a large group and they handled us well. Really worth the visit if you like this sort of Americana.
The parking lot is a dust bowl however so your clean car won't be afterwards.

This is worth the drive. There are still bullet holes visible from back in the day when a poker game went bad. Clark Gable waited here for news on Carole Lombard's plane. You will see bikers and Junior League ladies, everyone goes to the Pioneer Salon. We've been a few times the food is great. Get out of town and go have an experience.

The Pioneer Saloon was very quaint and the food was good! We had read online that the Good Springs Ghost town was there also. We saw some old buildings in random spots but no one at the Saloon new anything about it.. LOL Said there are 326 people living there...not a ghost town.

Been wanting to stop by here for the longest time! My girlfriend and I were heading back to Vegas from Primm and decided to stop here for a drink and breakfast. You turn off the exit in Jean and it's about 10 minutes down the road. Delicious Bloody Marys and the food was good too. I had a breakfast burrito which was HUGE, took 1/2 of it with. It was very busy while we were there so you need to be patient with your order, we weren't in a hurry. Dane was out server and was awesome! After we finished eating and our drinks we walked around the property, very neat things to see and history about the place and area! A must to check out!

hi
we are planning a trip to the area in April and want to do things not tourist like. We have a 6 year old and 11 year old. Are they able to eat here? I saw the part about you have to be 21 to be in the bar. The place does not look that big want to make sure they can go and eat here before making the road trip.
Thanks!!!

They have outside seating, and I believe kids could sit outside with parents.

Can you buy tickets in town as we prefer to drive so we can explore afterwards.
Written July 9, 2016
Yes for the star journey tour or the haunted lock down tours...the websites are recommended but if you call the saloon Tom Sheckells, Jill Allen-Padovese or Noel Sheckells can take care of your request to pay in person.
