Beautiful walks and cycle tracks through this forest, an area set aside to be a 'fairy forest for the little ones and also 'Middle Earth with swings, climbing frames and all sorts of interesting oddities for the older kids of all ages, fantastic fun.

This forest is really beautiful. And it's a great place to take kids, with a fairy park and an adventure park that John, a local resident, has built in his own time, with his own resources- it is fabulous.
Waitarere Forest is off Waitarere Beach Road. It is a working forest so you have to be aware of logging trucks, but they only take logs out about once a day.
