Uphill all the way. The waterfall is less than a half mile. There are a few more creek crossing or creek wandering along that are beautiful. Very peaceful hike.

Waterfalls, birds, berries, great views, can't get better. Beware of bears. Lake is pretty, 1.5 hrs uphill.

This walk goes through woods for almost its entire length, with only a short section through a section damaged by fire in 2008. The walk is on a well maintained trail, and leads to a couple of truly delightful spots - a waterfall after around...More

The first 1/2-3/4 mile of this trail is steep, so if your're a flatlander, you might have problems because of the excertion required and the elevation. But after that initial steep climb the trail is not terribly hard and Lower Basin Lake is a gem....More

As I mentioned on another review, when you leave in bright sunny not a cloud in the sky day, expect that it might rain in the mountain area. Bring rain gear. Had to cut the hike short. Adequate parking area. Easy access from Red Lodge....More
