We stayed over at the Doubletree and needed a little exercise after a day on the road. This is a great river walk. I have no idea how far it winds along the river but we walked 30 minutes out and 30 back. Lots of friendly people - even the bikers were nice. plants, rocks, trees to look at. Definitely do this if you want to get a breath of fresh air.

This trail starts at the East end of the Milwaukee Trail near the University of Montana. The trail is approximately 4 miles long. However, additional mileage can be added by either going under the railroad bridge on the trail or continue east on a narrower trail. I have walked the trail but prefer to use my mountain bike. Eagles, osprey, deer, flickers, kingfishers and other wildlife can be observed. This is a really nice and convenient trail with great views of canyon, river, and mountains.

I walked along the trail on a Sunday morning. There was a regular flow of joggers and bikers but not busy. Best birdwatching was off the track nearer to the river.

I walked the length of this scenic 4.1 mile flat trail along the Clark Fork River and saw that many others were doing the same, or running. The surface is paved in one portion and hard packed dirt in the other portion; all was well maintained. We connected from this trail to the Riverfront Trail down river to the West and to an unnamed trail up river to the East.
