This hike is a perfect moderate hike, with the trail going through meadows and then many uphill areas. We had sun and some snow showers during our late September hike. Once we were at the summit, it was simply beautiful! A great day for our...More

Well worth the hike up. Beautiful highland meadow and pond. There are more climbs to go. Go up the first small bluff and theres a trail behind it to go higher but that one is not for children or anyone unsteady or faint of heart....More

Yes this hike is as beautiful as everyone is saying. The wildflowers are amazing We even saw a mouse that was not bothered by humans reasonably close by. She basically was posing for our pictures. Just be aware that although it is only a 1300...More

This was THE most beautiful hike EVER! Challenging but never dangerous. You'll never see more wildflowers! About 6 miles round trip so bring your water, lunch and your iPhone because there's reception at the top of the mountain by the late and you'll want to...More

Challenging at parts but very doable if you’re somewhat in shape. Beautiful wild flowers along the way and we saw a moose right by the river. We went further than the basin to get higher and a better view. Very steep at parts. Bring plenty...More

7.1 mile out and back trail with around 1500’ of elevation gain. It was very petty with most of the meadows filled with wildflowers. We got up to the lake at 8am and didn’t see another person for an hour. The walk back was quite...More

This trail is only about 3 miles (5 km) from the Big Sky resort and has limited parking in the designated area, so many people park along the road for some ways off. The trail is a little over 6 miles (10 km) round-trip, with...More

Apparently Fox network did a story on this hike to it is very popular. Challenging elevation change but the lake at the top is just OK. It's close and easy to get to so you will have plenty of company on the trail. Honestly there...More

Enjoyed Beehive Basin Trail. Be warned: it is especially challenging in places and if it's hot outside, you'll feel the elevation effect for sure.

Beehive Basin Trail is sometimes busy, with good reason. It is a 6 mile round trip hike that is gorgeous, especially when the wildflowers are at their peak (July) The lay off at the top is spectacular- a glacier lake at the top surrounded by...More

Some snow on the highest peaks, not at the top where the lake is. No bears —high human and canine traffic this time of year. Wildflowers were beautiful

It's open year round. If it's snowed by then you won't get as far back in there unless you take good boots. We hiked it back in mid June this year and there was still mushy snow by the lake so we couldn't get back there with... More
