It is hard to give the cemetery a star rating; it is a place that records the sadness and cruelty that convicts suffered on Norfolk Island. All cemeteries are interesting places to explore and this one is no exception.

Spent an hour wandering around this very well maintained cemetery close to the water. Gives a good idea of the history and the lives that the early settlers endured

Set time aside to wander through this historical cemetery reading the head stones. There is also a guided tour you can take to hear the stories of the early settlers and convicts.

Graveyards are never the most uplifting places but the beauty of this graveyard shines through. Colleen Mc Cullough lies here, the island was her life and she rests in a spectacular haven of peace.

Can't tell you how much I enjoyed walking amongst these old gravestones drinking in the history of the place. Every headstone was an insight into the hardships they endured and the average age killed by convict mutineers or drowning or accidentally was in their 20's....More

Enjoyed few hours wandering among the graves reading inscriptions etc. Some very sad reflections on Australian history but also some uplifting inscriptions. We picked a reasonable day to go as very muddy in wet weather and exposed to strong winds

The history of Norfolk on a guided tour was exceptional while still being used as the only cemetery on Norfolk

Just had to have another walk around this area. Not to be missed. The names of many who pioneered the island.

Spent quite a bit of time here reading the headstones of mostly young men - around 25 years of age. A lot were soldiers, who died too young. Burials are free on Norfolk; the family organises it and pays for a head stone if required.

take a walk through this cemetery by the sea and you will find graves of some of the crew of the Bounty Ship. Famous author Colleen McCullough is buried in the Norfolk Island Cemetery.
