There are absolutely no guide, no posters or anything other than the castle. So if you go and did not research the history of the castle, you will be left to wonder and use your imagination to try and understand how the castle was used...More

Built by the Crusaders in 1228, they recycled the foundations of the previous Phoenician temple and Roman structures in doing so, using Egyptian granite pillars horizontally in the lower structure in lieu of concrete. The castle has 2 towers - easily climbed. Great views in...More

Built by the Crusaders in 1228 on some Phoenician remains this is a lovely little castle. Both the East and West towers, although somewhat ruinous, can be climbed but there are no railings anywhere so take care! Good views back to the town and a...More

Uber if your staying in Beirut, the drive is all along the coast, so apart from the locals driving ( which is up there with shocking ) the scenery is most interesting. Once your here, the Castle itself ( ruins of ) are most interesting....More

We were between meetings in Sidon so we visited the crusader castle a marvel of engineering and well worth the $3 US to get in. Great views and photograph opportunities.

The Crusaders Sea Castle was built in the 13th century. It was built on top of a Phoenician temple and offers a glimpse into that time period. The crusaders used recycled Roman columns and stones in the construction which provides the castle a unique look....More

This is a lovely ruin right perched just off the sea front in the middle of the town of Sidon. One of the most striking things as you walk up the short narrow walk way which bring you out to the castle is the structure...More

Its not a large castle, but it is nice to walk around inside. Especially on the battlements but beware as there is no railings. The vaulted ceiling inside is beautiful, and notice how the walls are made up of the old Roman columns.

We were warned that the ruins of this castle would not compare with Byblos, and it didn't; but nicely restored, a pleasant walk, and good views to the sea and back on the city.
