Any fan of Faulkner would be remiss not to visit Rowan Oak, his home in Oxford. The residence has been left as it was when Faulkner lived there complete with pencil scribblings on the wall!

If you are a fan of Faulkner you have to go here. My wife loves Faulkner, me not really but I loved seeing his house. It has been kept like he still lives there. I would go just for the history.

Rowan Oak is the home of William Faulkner. The house has been left as in his day. His typewriter is still there. The grounds are beautiful. Don’t worry about the oppressive Mississippi summer heat. The house has been air conditioned, and part of the upstairs...More

A guided tour would have been nice. The grounds are expansive the house had history that was very interesting and reading from the stories I enjoyed my time exploring here.

I stopped by here while in Oxford and was happy that I did. Rowan Oak is now owned by the University. It is a stately place and a wonderful place to look around and learn more about William Faulkner. This isn't a day long trek...More

Faulkner's home is on my must-see list. It gives you a taste of the South era of WWII. The staff is fantastic. Can tell you everything. I would like to live there. In this era of computers and technology, I was amazed to see that...More

Such a spectacular setting among the oaks. Serene and peaceful. William Faulkner resided here for 32 years, you should come and see it.

No, but Square Books, very close by in the center of town, has a large section of Faulkner's and other Southern authors' books.

As already stated by others, there are a number of nice eateries nearby. Of all the places I dined in the area, I enjoyed Big Bad Breakfast the most. They serve lunch as well as breakfast. The food is delicious and plentiful.
