I had a wonderful tour, with Alec Valentine as the docent. He combined the tour with lots of interest facts, as well as insights of his own. The tour is a fascinating view into Eudora Welty’s life and art as a writer. This was the...More

We enjoyed being in the place where Eudora wrote her wonderful books. There was a tabby cat who greeted us and followed us around the grounds. Charming.

This garden is a highly recommended stop on any trip to the Welty home. It is located on a small and sloping "hillside" in the rear of the house. There is an upper garden and an intermediate or lower garden containing various plants and flowers...More

It's a quick "tour." We were there in lily and daisy season. Lovely sprays of color in an intimate enclosed green space. Well groomed with a few places to sit and be harmonious with the spirit of Eudora.

I concur with the reviewer who commented the ideal is to tour the garden AND the home. The gardens were the delight of Eudora, but the creation was primarily by her mother, Chestina. The gardens have been restored to the period when they were in...More

Lovely little garden walk you can attend anytime without cost (I think). Viewed the house, too, which was lovely. The gardens are peaceful and enjoyed imagining Eudora with her friends enjoying the gardens and "little house".

Normally this is closed on Sunday, but I arrived when there were having an event so it was opened. The garden has been maintained as Eudora had it in her time. It isn't that large, but pretty.

I got to experience the beauty and aroma that the author experienced...Magnolias, rose, and herbs were growing. Also inspected the playhouse her brothers used to use as a club..Should be made part of the tour

It is a beautifully designed and crafted garden, marvelously restored to 1940s period when the writer's mother "had things pretty much the way she wanted them." I have visited many more impressive home gardens, but the Welty readers will all attest to the impact of...More
