About
We invite you to enjoy all that makes our museum unique: the artists, the architecture, the history, and the landscape. The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art celebrates the innovative, independent, and creative spirit of our namesake, Mississippi master potter George Ohr - "The Mad Potter of Biloxi." In a fitting tribute to Ohr, artist and architect Frank Gehry designed an award winning campus of bold, intriguing, and self sufficient structures. These buildings and the exhibits therein offer visitors separate but not isolated experiences - together creating a single unified vision connected by the expansive brick plaza and the majestic Live Oaks. Just have one day? Come see art exhibits that exemplify the creative spirit of George Ohr and the Southeastern US. Stay a bit longer and enjoy taking ceramics classes in our expansive ceramics studio. Stay for good and become a member to experience all that the museum has to offer - including events that enrich and educate our coastal community.

An eclectic collection focused around "The Mad Potter of Biloxi" but with a variety of art from local artists, mixed with a bit of local history. The exhibits change regularly. When we visited there were several displays of visual art and the local history featured Biloxi in the civil rights era, including a time-line of the efforts to integrate the public beaches. You can really feel that you are standing right where history took place. With buildings designed by Frank Gehry.

I have driven by on several occasions curious about the museum because the buildings you can see from Beach Avenue are very unique. Walking in, admission is a reasonable price. There are many places to sit if needed. It was very relaxing to wander through the buildings. Everything is nicely laid out and very relaxing and peaceful.

Any chance I get to see buildings designed by Frank Geary, I don't pass it up. His architectural contributions to the campus of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi are on a smaller scale than most of his other buildings, but they are unmistakably Geary & provide unique housing for their small but varied art collection. My wife & I encountered no particularly noteworthy pieces of art on display during our visit, but the exhibits are thoughtfully curated & laid out in the galleries.
The primary highlight for us was Pleasant Reed Interpretive Center, which documents the life & times of the first freed slave to buy his own land in Biloxi. The displays further immerse visitors in the history of racial segregation along the Gulf Coast, which was a perspective that I had never seen presented. My wife & I both would recommend a visit to Ohr-O'Keefe just for that experience; but you should explore & admire the rest of the complex, and get a bite to eat from the friendly cafe attendant/owner.

Sweet and small gallery, really focused on the growth and beauty of Biloxi and the Gulf Coast. Nice gift shop, reasonable price and the most amazingly knowledgeable docent named Effie!

They don't carry collectible pottery in their shop like they used to. Museum is a drab experience and not friendly at all, sorta snobby.

i had wanted to visit the museum since first hearing about it maybe 15 years ago. The building, designed by Frank Gehry, is a delight. The collection is interesting and well displayed. The exhibition pods give you a fine inside and outside experience. The staff was friendly informative, leading me not to miss the nearby Dusti Bongé Art Foundation. I had lunch in the Trinity Cafe by Josh in the atrium of the reception building. The French onion soup with Swiss toast was delicious and delightful.

Architecture, design of Frank Gehry, and the art of George or are well represented in this museum and it is definitely worth a visit. Very important to go to the shoo fly look out and look down so you can see and appreciate the architectural designs.
We were intrigued by the review of Ohrs ceramic art at the Biloxi visitor museum and stopped by the museums. So glad we did. Many different artist represented including modern Black artists.

interesting venue. juxtaposition of modern buildings and ancient live oaks. with the exception of the main draw the exhibits are small. the gift shop is very good, and the snack counter is limited. the "workshop" is also very good - especially if one of the artists is there to talk to.

I am copying the response below. It is very accurate on the museum itself and the price.
If you have AARP or AAA be sure to use the discount. The museum is rather unique. There was more on the 10 year anniversary of Katrina than Ohr-O'Keefe's works. I found Katrina to be the main emphasis in the area which is interesting no matter how you look at it. How the area has revitalized and is establishing itself post Katrina is as interesting as the history of the past.
Adults (18+): $10

You can also purchase museum pass for 4 museums in the area for $20.
