This is the third lock down the Mississippi and can handle the large barge traffic on the river. There is not a lot of barge traffic, so it is unlikely you will see the locks in operation, but they are still interesting to see.
This lock and dam has a nice observation platform for watching boats go through the lock. We were lucky enough to see a big steamboat go through the lock. It'd be really fun to see barges or large shipping containers, but we didn't have the...More
